New Delhi, March 29, 2026 — An estimated eight million people poured into the streets of American cities, suburbs and small towns on Saturday in the third and largest “No Kings” national day of protest against US President Donald Trump — a mass mobilisation that organisers believe may surpass every previous demonstration in United States history.
More than 3,000 events were planned nationwide, with turnout expected to surpass the estimated five million to seven million people who participated in earlier rounds of protests over the past year.
On social media, witness accounts captured the sheer scale of the moment. Marco Foster posted on X: “HAPPENING NOW: A MASSIVE crowd has gathered in Boston, MA for a No Kings Day protest against convicted felon Donald Trump and his corrupt regime.” Brian Krassenstein reported: “Massive crowds already in Philadelphia for the No Kings Protest this morning.” Paul A. Szypula added: “Aerial video of ‘No Kings’ protest in Philadelphia shows large crowds in the streets.”
Protesters rallied from New York City, with almost 8.5 million residents in a solidly blue state, to Driggs, a town of fewer than 2,000 people in eastern Idaho — a state Trump carried with 66% of the vote in 2024, reported PBS Almost half of all protests took place in GOP strongholds, and Texas, Florida and Ohio each had over 100 events scheduled per CNN.
Organizers estimated that at least 8 million participants took part in more than 3,300 events worldwide. Thousands of people stood shoulder-to-shoulder on the Minnesota Capitol lawn and surrounding streets in St. Paul, said CBS News in a report.
Al Jazeera English reported ‘No Kings’ protests with over 3,000 gatherings across the US opposing President Trump and the Iran war. Organisers expect one of the largest protest days in US history, with major rallies planned nationwide. Demonstrators are hitting the streets of cities across the US for the first ‘No Kings’ protest since the joint US and Israeli war on Iran began one month ago.
CBS News noted that “people around the world participate in ‘No Kings’ demonstrations in protest of President Trump,” and that the organisation’s website says they have “peacefully mobilised millions of people to take to the streets and declare with one voice — America has No Kings.”
Actor Robert De Niro addressed the Manhattan crowd directly: “When the crowds are chanting ‘No kings!’ what I’m really hearing, as we all know, is ‘No Trump.’ That’s right, there have been other presidents who tested the constitutional limits of their power, but none have been such an existential threat to our freedoms and security. None except Trump.”
Before performing at the flagship Minnesota rally, Bruce Springsteen, quoted CBS News, told the crowd: “Your strength and your commitment told us that this was still America. And this reactionary nightmare, and these invasions of American cities, will not stand.”
The White House dismissed the protests. Spokesperson Abigail Jackson characterised them as the product of “leftist funding networks” with little real public support, saying “the only people who care about these Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions are the reporters who are paid to cover them.”
