The CBSE Class 12 evaluation controversy is growing bigger. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has accepted responsibility, but students and parents continue to raise serious concerns over the onscreen marking system and delayed revaluation responses.
New Delhi, May 28, 2026 — The controversy surrounding the CBSE Class 12 board examinations and the Onscreen Marking System (OMS) intensified on Thursday, even as Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said he was taking “full responsibility” for the problems that have surfaced in the evaluation process.
Pradhan assured students and parents that revaluation would be carried out and that those found responsible for lapses would not be spared. However, growing complaints from across the country suggest that anger and anxiety among students continue to mount.
Fresh allegations emerged from Kolkata, where a student claimed on social media that when she sought access to her mathematics answer sheet, she was allegedly provided with a blank page instead. The incident has added to the growing distrust surrounding the digital evaluation system introduced by CBSE.
Parents and student groups have accused the CBSE of delays and lack of transparency in handling grievances. According to claims circulating among parent associations, over four lakh students have already submitted applications seeking revaluation or copies of their answer sheets after discrepancies surfaced in marks and evaluations.
Many parents alleged that despite submitting requests more than a week ago, they have not received any response from CBSE authorities. The delays have triggered further concern because the admission process in colleges and universities has already begun, leaving students uncertain about their academic future.
The primary demands raised by parents include the awarding of grace marks wherever necessary, physical re-evaluation of answer sheets instead of digital-only scrutiny, and the discontinuation of the Onscreen Marking System, which critics describe as flawed and unreliable.
The controversy has rapidly escalated into one of the biggest crises faced by CBSE in recent years, with mounting pressure on the Education Ministry to restore confidence in the examination system.
Several education activists and parents have argued that the issue goes beyond isolated technical errors and reflects deeper concerns about outsourcing, digital evaluation mechanisms and accountability within India’s school examination system.
As outrage continues to spread online, the CBSE now faces the difficult task of balancing damage control with restoring the credibility of one of India’s most important public examinations.
