UP Signs Pact for Development of Roshan-ud-Daulah, Chhatar Manzil, Chunar Fort

By TRH News Desk

Lucknow, March 12: Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department on Wednesday signed a pact for development of three Suryagarh-fame heritage hotels. Golden Triangle Fort and Palace Private Limited will develop Roshan-ud-Daulah and Chhatar Manzil in Lucknow, along with Chunar Fort in Mirzapur.

“These heritage sites will be developed into luxury heritage hotels, following the successful model of Suryagarh Jaisalmer,” said the state government in a media statement.

Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that the three properties have been given to Golden Triangle, Rajasthan, under the PPP model. He said, “The company’s Suryagarh Collection—which operates Suryagarh Jaisalmer, Narendra Bhawan Bikaner, and Mary Budden Estate Binsar—will design, develop, and manage these heritage hotels.”

A key focus will be on preserving the original architectural essence while integrating innovative restoration techniques. “The revival process will be guided by historical research, folklore, traditional construction materials, and modern innovations to maintain authenticity,” he said.

He added, “This initiative is expected to significantly enhance heritage tourism and position Uttar Pradesh as a prime destination for luxury heritage stays and destination weddings.”

Additionally, it will generate employment opportunities for local communities, prioritising hiring locals for property development and operations, said the minister. The initiative will also promote ODOP items and curate experiential tourism, highlighting local traditions, cuisine, festivals, and craftsmanship.

“One village near each heritage property will be adopted and revitalized in a step towards holistic development,” said the statement. Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasized that Uttar Pradesh is home to numerous forts, palaces, and havelis, and the government aims to make them tourist attractions while preserving their historic value.

He said, “Under the PPP model, the state’s heritage tourism sector is witnessing unprecedented growth, supported by investor-friendly policies that facilitate the development of forts, palaces, haunted sites, and mansions.”

With this transformative approach, Uttar Pradesh is set to emerge as a premier heritage tourism hub, blending history with world-class hospitality, said the state government.
