Noida, April 29, 2026 — In a significant step towards operationalising the much-anticipated Noida International Airport at Jewar, the airport’s security plan has received final approval from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), paving the way for commercial flight operations. According to a report published in Navbharat Times (NBT), authorities are now set to finalise airfares within the next seven days, bringing the project closer to launch.
The approval of the Aerodrome Security Programme (ASP) marks a crucial milestone for the airport, which has been under development as a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region (NCR). With this clearance, one of the last major regulatory hurdles has been removed, allowing airport authorities to shift their focus entirely to operational readiness.
Officials indicated that discussions with airlines are underway, and ticket pricing is expected to be announced shortly. Carriers such as IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express are likely to be among the first to operate from the airport, although final confirmations are awaited.
The report notes that infrastructure within the airport premises is largely complete, including passenger handling systems and security arrangements. Authorities are now working closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth rollout of commercial services.
The development also follows recent legal clarity on land acquisition for the airport’s expansion. The Allahabad High Court has reportedly dismissed objections related to the acquisition process, with over 70% of affected families having already consented, removing another layer of uncertainty surrounding the project.
The Noida International Airport, located in Jewar in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district, is being developed as one of India’s largest greenfield airports. Envisioned to ease congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, the Jewar facility is expected to significantly boost connectivity, economic activity, and employment in the region.
Once operational, the airport is projected to handle millions of passengers annually in its initial phases, with expansion plans aimed at making it one of Asia’s largest aviation hubs in the coming years.
