Unlike some recent small-cap rallies with no clear trigger, this one has a specific, disclosed cause: an expanded smartphone R&D partnership with Nothing’s CMF brand. But an independent analytics platform is still flagging the stock as a “Momentum Trap” — and the numbers explain why.
Mumbai, September 23, 2026 — Optiemus Infracom Ltd (NSE/BSE: OPTIEMUS, BSE: 530135) surged again today, gaining as much as 16.12% intraday to a fresh 52-week high of ₹850.05 before settling at ₹828.
That move comes directly on the heels of yesterday’s session, in which the stock hit its 20% upper circuit, closing at ₹708.40 on the BSE amid a more than twenty-fold spike in trading volume. Together, the two sessions cap a three-day winning streak MarketsMOJO calculated at a cumulative 39.66% return.
The Actual Catalyst
Unlike several recent small-cap rallies where no clear disclosed trigger could be identified, this one has a specific and well-documented cause. Business Standard reported that CMF, the global consumer technology brand under Nothing, announced an expanded partnership with Optiemus Group on September 22 to build “India’s first end-to-end R&D Smartphone capability.”
Groww adds further detail: Optiemus Infracom is set to form a joint venture with Nothing Electronics for CMF product sales, with Optiemus acquiring 51.1% equity in the new entity and both companies each appointing one director to its board.
Alongside the Nothing/CMF news, the company has been building a separate growth narrative around screen protector manufacturing. Groww is targeting ₹2,000 crore in revenue from screen protectors by FY28, with the company’s current profit margin in that specific business at roughly 3% — a figure management expects to rise to approximately 25% as new capacity comes online, partly in response to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification requirements that are set to become mandatory for the category.
Trendlyne separately noted the company plans to add 2 crore units of screen-protector capacity ahead of that certification deadline.

The Trading Data Behind Both Circuit Days
The scale of participation across both sessions has been extraordinary for a stock this size. On September 22, Business Standard reported combined NSE and BSE volume of 8.55 million shares — more than 20 times the stock’s average — with pending buy orders for a further 1.22 million shares still unfilled when the circuit locked.
MarketsMOJO separately noted delivery volumes had jumped 990.33% against the five-day average, a detail worth emphasizing: on days when a stock hits its upper circuit, trading volume is mechanically capped by the price freeze, but the delivery component — shares actually transferred into buyers’ demat accounts rather than squared off intraday — is considered a more reliable signal of genuine, longer-term buying conviction rather than pure day-trading churn.
By today’s session, MarketsMOJO reported turnover of ₹401.83 crore on volume of 48.74 lakh shares, with the stock once again gaining 16.5% — a state the outlet described plainly: “buyers queuing, sellers absent.”
A Stock Already Up Nearly 200% From Its Low
Even before this week’s circuit-locked sessions, Optiemus had already been on a substantial run. The stock’s rally from its 52-week low of ₹289.90 to today’s peak represents a 193.2% gain over the past year — a period in which the benchmark Sensex actually declined 9.12%.
Technically, the stock is now trading above all of its key moving averages — the 5-day, 20-day, 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day — an alignment MarketsMOJO described as signaling “strong upward momentum and a positive trend across multiple timeframes.”
The Caution Flag Worth Taking Seriously
Despite the real catalyst and the strong technical alignment, independent analytics aren’t uniformly bullish. Trendlyne’s own platform currently tags Optiemus Infracom with a “Momentum Trap” label, defining stocks in that category as ones that “have weak financials and expensive valuation,” where “medium technical scores may weaken” and “investors should exercise caution.”
That caution has a clear basis in the numbers: Business Standard reported the stock trading at a trailing P/E ratio of 63.71 as of its most recent full-year update, while TipRanks’ more current tracking shows the multiple has since risen to 76.13 — an expensive valuation for a company whose own disclosed screen-protector margins currently sit at just 3%, with the entire bull case resting on that figure roughly 25% as new, not-yet-fully-online capacity ramps up.
Other Disclosures Worth Noting
Alongside the Nothing/CMF announcement, Groww’s filings tracker shows Optiemus Infracom’s board also approved enhancing a corporate guarantee for subsidiary Optiemus Electronics from ₹50.07 crore to ₹100 crore, issued to IndusInd Bank and treated as a contingent liability on the parent company’s books — a routine but real increase in the group’s off-balance-sheet financial exposure, disclosed in the same window as the rally.
Separately, Groww’s data shows a block deal of 15.85 lakh shares (1.82% of equity) changing hands at ₹845 per share, a transaction worth approximately ₹136 crore — activity consistent with large institutional or high-net-worth participants actively trading around the stock’s current price levels rather than the move being driven purely by smaller retail participants.
