New Delhi, September 1: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday won the trust vote in the city Assembly. During the day, the UPA legislators rushed to Jharkhand Raj Bhavan to check on the top-secret letter, which is making the state Chief Minister Hemant Sorent squirming.

Kejriwal-led Aam Admi Party claimed ‘Operatioon Lotus’ in motion, after the city minister Satyendra Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate, and he subsequently was sent to judicial custody.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has faced marathon raid by the Central Bureau of Investigation at his residence as part of the alleged excise policy scam. Lately, Sisodia has claimed that he has got ‘clean chit’ from the CBI.

In an Assembly of 70 MLAs, Kejriwal on Thursday demonstrated the support of 58 legislators, while two of his party colleagues are abroad, one in jail and another being the Speaker of the House.

On the face of the show, the bid to demonstrate the strength in the Assembly was facile, if not ludicrous. This fails to gain serious traction in the public since there exists no threat at all to the AAP government in the city.

In Jharkhand, Soren is being scorched by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Godda Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey whose tweets are scaring the ruling coalition government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Dubey claimed that the Election Commission has sent its advisory on the office of profit case to the Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais, recommending disqualification of the chief minister from his legislative membership on the ground that he allowed the renewal of the mining lease while holding the charge of the Ministry of Mines in the state, to send the JMM leadership into a tizzy.

Soren has indeed invited the conflict of interest charge and hence the case of the office of profit.

The UPA legislators have so far been on ‘Meet-Bhaat’ picnic near Ranchi, besides a short tourism to Chhattisgarh as part of the resort politics.

On Thursday, the UPA delegation called on Bais to appeal him to clarify the position on the letter.

Emerging out of the meeting, Bandhu Tirkey, the working president of the Congress in Jharkhand, said that the Governor admitted that he was in receipt of the letter, but there are a few issues on which he was consulting with the Constitution experts.

It may be noted that on office of profit matters, Governors are bound by the order of the Election Commission of India.

Now, it has also emerged that the services of a chopper have also been arranged for the VVIPs in anticipation of ‘BJP on prowl’ unfolding in Ranchi in the next few days.

While there is no confirmation yet if Soren would be barred from contesting elections, Jharkhand presents a case of a lawless state where students are tying teachers with a tree to beat them for not going good marks, besides stalkers dousing with petrol and throwing acid on girls.
