Cockroach Janata Party Protest at Jantar Mantar: CJP Demands Dharmendra Pradhan Resign Over NEET, CBSE Row
New Delhi, June 20, 2026 — Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has begun an indefinite protest at Jantar Mantar, defying the police calls for disbursal, as the outfit sought immediate resignation of Union Minister for education Dharmendra Pradhan. The tension escalated at the Jantar Mantar Road with the CJP activists digging in their heels to intensify protests against Pradhan. The CJP alleged that electricity supply has been cut, while drinking water provisions have allegedly been blocked.
Against the protest deadline till 5 PM on Saturday, the CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke gave calls to the people to come to the Jantar Mantar after 6 PM. The protest venue was brimming with protestors even at 8.30 PM amid heavy presence of the security personnel.
Unlike the first phase of the protest earlier when the police had patiently watched the CJP activists, the security personnel were using loudspeakers to ask the people to leave the venue. Dipke in a video statement claimed that he would soon be arrested, while he urged the followers to continue protests even in his absence.
Pradhan is in the crosshairs of the protest over his handling of the NEET-UG examinations, as well as CBSE exams. The CJP held several protests across the country to push for the resignation of Pradhan.
Delhi Police declared Jantar Mantar CJP protest illegal after the 5 PM deadline, announcing: “This protest is now illegal. You have crossed your time limit.” Protesters defied the police announcement, as they continued banging spoons and plates in their signature campaign.
Dipke appealed to the Delhi Police to “turn on lights and don’t stop water bottles at the entrance.” A large number of students are holding on at the protest venue.
The CJP protesters are joined by Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk. “We will not leave Jantar Mantar until Pradhan resigns,” Dipke said. He appealed to police to extend permission for protest continuation at the Jantar Mantar.
Reports said that the Delhi Police have blocked entry to Jantar Mantar. “Police are about to arrest me. I appeal to you to not stop this peaceful protest nationwide even if I am arrested,” Dipke said at the protest venue.
CPI (ML) in a statement said that “Dharmendra Pradhan, Stop Sending Police, Cutting Off Water and Electricity Supply! Resign Now! Better Education Now.” “Despite police intimidation and attempts to disrupt the protest, the youth at the CJP protest remain determined and continue to hold their ground until their demands are met,” the outfit said in a statement.
