Ghaziabad, April 21, 2026 — A massive fire broke out in the Crossing Republic area of Ghaziabad on Tuesday, gutting at least five shops and triggering panic among residents and shopkeepers. The incident occurred near a busy roundabout under the Crossing Republic police station limits.
According to initial reports, the fire started in one of the shops around 11:30 am and quickly spread to adjoining establishments. The situation escalated after at least three gas cylinders exploded, intensifying the flames and sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
Fire department officials were alerted immediately, following which multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly an hour before bringing it under control.
Authorities confirmed that a major disaster was averted as the fire did not spread to a nearby CNG pump, which could have led to far more severe consequences.
Even as firefighting operations were underway, another fire incident was reported approximately 200 metres away at Ajnara Green Society. A locked flat on the 22nd floor caught fire, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in either of the incidents. The exact cause of both fires is yet to be determined, and further investigation is underway.
Officials are assessing the extent of property damage while ensuring safety protocols are reinforced in the area.
