New Delhi, March 30: Leaders of 26 political parties will share dais at the Ramlila Ground rally of the Opposition on Sunday. The rally has set the ‘Loktantra Bachao (save the democracy)’ as the rallying template for the Opposition parties.
“This is not our first rally. As many as 26 parties are taking part in the Ramlila Ground rally tomorrow. ‘Loktantra Bachao’ is the key focus of the rally,” said Jairam Ramesh, chairman of the communication department of the Congress.
Ramesh said that even the All India Trinamool Congress will be taking part in the Opposition rally. “We could not agree on seat adjustment in West Bengal. But the TMC will be taking part in the rally,” added Ramesh.
But a short video released by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is trending ahead of the Ramlila Ground rally of the Opposition. Kalpana Soren called on Sunita Kejriwal on Saturday. Kalpana Soren patted the shoulder of Sunita Kejriwal in a gesture of moral support.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently arrested the husbands of the two women — Hemant Soren and Arvind Kejriwal. Ramesh clarified: “This rally is not about individuals. Several Opposition leaders have been arrested by the ED. Hemant Soren, ministers in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu…there are many of them.”
The Congress leader insisted that the rally is for saving democracy. The Opposition bloc, the Indian National Developmental and Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) had held the first rally in Mumbai. This was to conclude the second leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
The backdrop of the rally is clearly the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Opposition is sensing a chance to ride Arvind Kejriwal to grab an election narrative. The AAP is hardselling to the people that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put behind an ‘Aam Aadmi CM’.

Unlike Hemant Soren, Arvind Kejriwal is resonating with the people after his arrest. Arrest of Hemant Soren was forgotten by the media after one day. But the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal is now a wildfire for the social media content creators. The mainstream media too is giving prominent coverage to claims made by Arvind Kejriwal in the Rouse Avenue court.
The Ramlila Ground in the national capital is a familiar turf for the AAP. The party was born out of the last leg of the Anna Hazare movement. Arvind Kejriwal has taken oath as the chief minister of Delhi at the Ramlila Ground.
The AAP workers are likely to grab most of the sitting areas of the Ramlila Ground. The AAP workers have been building support for Arvind Kejriwal in the national capital. With Sunita Kejriwal bracing to take the baton of the ‘Aam Aadmi’, Kalpana Soren is likely to gain the spotlight. Kalpana Soren is aiming to be the face of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
