New Delhi, December 25: Newly-appointed Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday expanded his Cabinet by inducting 28 ministers in his council of ministers. The shape of the council of ministers in Bhopal has affirmed new power equations in Bhopal.

Three aspirants for the post of the chief minister in Madhya Pradesh have taken oath as ministers in the Yadav-led Cabinet in the state. The political observers in Bhopal are claiming that the three leaders who had been known for clouts in New Delhi have been cut to size after they were asked to become ministers in the Yadav-led Cabinet.

The national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party Kailash Vijayvargia who won Assembly elections from Indore-I seat took oath as a minister in Bhopal on Monday. He is currently serving his fourth term as the national general secretary of the BJP. Vijayvargia was brought into the national office bearers’ team of the BJP by Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah when he was the chief of the party. His presence in the Yadav-led Cabinet will be seen as a sign of Shah keeping a close eye in the affairs of the state politics.

Besides, Shah’s two more confidantes – Pralhad Singh Patel and Rakesh Singh – have also taken oaths as ministers in the Yadav-led Cabinet in Madhya Pradesh. Both Patel and Singh were members of the Lok Sabha. They are known within the BJP for working closely with Shah. Singh was the Madhya Pradesh unit president of the BJP also in the past.

While Shah appears to have placed his confidantes close to Yadav in his Cabinet, the names of the new ministers also revealed that the BJP is keen to erase traces of former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the state politics. The Bhopal-based political observers have made claims that the followers of Chouhan missed out from becoming ministers in the Yadav-led Cabinet in a big way.

In contrast, the followers of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia gained the spotlight by bagging ministerial positions in the Yadav-led Cabinet. The Cabinet expansion in Bhopal once more affirmed that the BJP is keeping Scindia in a good humour after he helped the BJP score big wins in the Gwalior-Chambal region of the state.

Notable followers of Chouhan who missed out from becoming ministers once again are the likes of Gopal Bhargav, Jayant Malaiya, and Bhupendra Singh. The Scindia follwers who became ministers in the Yadav-led Cabinet are the likes of Govind Singh Rajput, Tulsi Silawat, and Pradhuman Singh Tomar.

The Cabinet expansion in Madhya Pradesh also reveals that the BJP is keen that the party unit in the state sheds traces of Chouhan. The BJP had dropped him as the chief minister of the state despite the party winning the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh under his leadership.
