Delhivery chews like elephant; agents go for mass cancellation of bookings

New Delhi, October 14: Delhivery has been hailed as a successful startup logistics company delivering parcels across the country, but it is facing fury of customers and courier agents lately. Parcels booked through Delhivery are either reaching destinations after two weeks, that too with a trip to the booking agent, or they are just cancelled.
“Delhivery sought to capture the courier market by cutting the charges. It started taking consignments of all – the people, e-commerce, and others. But this company had to no manpower to execute such order book. Now, we are faced with anger of the people, who are shouting at us for the delays of their courier,” said a Noida-based courier agent.
His courier shop is flooded with parcels, which were booked earlier with Delhivery, but now cancelled and being re-booked with rival firms. “We are no more booking any new parcel with Delhivery. It has flooded us with complaints,” said the courier agent, showing a long list of complaint e-mails sent to the company, which recently listed on the stock markets with healthy premiums.
Incidentally, Delhivery sought to challenge the established names in the courier business such as BlueDart but offering cheap services. “The model was simple. It offered discounts against the rivals, and we preferred it. But the couriers began not being delivered even after two weeks, which would take just three days with others. Delhivery has spoiled its reputation by taking businesses which it had no capacity to execute,” lamented another courier agent in Greater Noida.
On the social media, the customers have flooded hashtag Delhivery with complaints of its customer care not responding and scores of parcels cancelled without any reason.
Pavan Kumar Rathi, a customer, wrote on twitter: “Delhivery shipment (7106110006506) was booked on 28th September and it was delivered on October 13. Can you please check why it took 15 days to reach from Kolkata to Hyderabad”.
