New Delhi, February 28: World leaders are warming up to US President Donald Trump with visits to Washington where they hear blunt messages on their faces. With Trump nodding, US Vice President JD Vance read out the poor records of London in protecting freedom of speech to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Earlier, Trump surprised visiting French President Emanual Macron by questioning Europe’s military aid to Ukraine. Trump accused Europe of using military aide to Ukraine as loans.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his side, Trump went rhetorical to accuse India of imposing trade barriers. Trump accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of being a ‘dictator’.
India took the lead in lowering tariff even before Trump announced his trade measures. Mexico shipped a consignment of 29 drug traffickers who lorded drug cartels for decades.
Zelenskyy is arriving in Washington to sign critical minerals deal with the US. The deal will insulate the US from China restricting the export of several of the critical minerals, which were announced in late December. Also, Trump may not need to pursue acquiring Greenland for critical minerals.
Contractors in the US are vying to bag contracts to transport the illegal immigrants out of the country. Nations of origins of the illegal immigrants are complying with the US in accepting the “aliens” back.
‘Trump Gaza’ video, which showed the US President and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leisurely sunbathing at a beach of a ‘re-built’ Palestinian territory, failed to shock the Arab world. The video invited dismissive comments from Middle East journalists and activists only.
Egypt and Jordan heaved sigh of relief on Trump, of his own accord, dropping plan to rebuild Gaza. Iran has not rained missiles on Israel since Trump assumed Presidency.

Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Tehran yesterday. The Middle East commentators noted that Lavrov was in Tehran to speak on behalf of the US for a “deal” on Iran’s nuclear programme.
Trump’s transcontinental sweep in shaking up establishments has gained the strength of electric currents. The world leaders are hiding annoyances while toeing Trump line in affairs of trade to geopolitics.
Jack Ma of China became a collateral beneficiary of the onset of the Trump Era. After a gap of five years, Ma, the Alibaba founder, resurfaced in public, shaking hands with China’s ruler and President Xi Jinping. Five years ago, he was widely believed to have become a victim of Xi’s purge for publicly criticizing the Chinese government.
Russia-China “partnership of century” is now in jeopardy. Russian President Vladimir Putin is now a pal of Trump. The Chinese commentators were tight-lipped at Xi’s phone conversation with Putin.
Russian President now doesn’t need Chinese mediation to end the Ukraine War. Trump is working overtime for windfall gains for Russia – 20 per cent of Ukraine’s territory and no need to pay compensation to Ukraine for the war damages.
