US President Proposes ‘Beautiful Place’ for Palestinians Away from Gaza

By Raisina Correspondent

New Delhi, February 5: In a significant geopolitical statement, US President Donald Trump promised a “beautiful place” for Palestinians to settle outside Gaza. In the presence of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said that “Palestinians should never return to Gaza”.

Trump was responding to a question, “would Palestinians have the right to return to Gaza if they left while the rebuilding was happening”. “It would be my hope that we could do something really nice, really good, where they wouldn’t want to return,” Trump responded.

Trump was speaking to reporters in the presence of Netanyahu. US President in recent days has spoken of rebuilding Gaza.

“Why would they want to return? The place has been hell. It’s been one of the meanest, one of the meanest, toughest places on Earth,” added Trump.

US President in the recent days has advocated that Jordan and Egypt should allow the Palestinians to settle in their lands who have been displaced from Gaza. In the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attacks against Israel, thousands of Palestinians have been displaced from Gaza.

“And right now, it’s, I’ve seen every picture from every angle better than if I were there. And nobody can live there. You can’t live there,” added Trump.

The statement of US President has invited strong remarks from the Middle East. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia issued a statement to state that there should be no further displacement of the Palestinians from Gaza. Egypt and Jordan in the past have rejected suggestions to allow the Palestinians to enter their territories.

“So, if we can build… if we can build them through massive amounts of money supplied by other people, very rich nations, and they’ll, they’re willing to, supply it. If we can build something for them in one of the countries — and it could be Jordan, it could be Egypt, it could be other countries,” Trump added, suggesting the future possible townships for the displaced Palestinians.

He spoke of “building four or five or six areas”. “It doesn’t have to be one area. But you take certain areas and you build really good quality housing, like a beautiful town, like someplace where they can live and not die,” added Trump.

US President also stated that “…Gaza is a guarantee that they’re going to end up dying. The same thing is going to happen again. It’s happened over and over again. And it’s going to happen again as sure as you’re standing there, Peter”. Trump was addressing to Peter Baker of The New York Times.

US President reiterated “I hope that we could do something where they wouldn’t want to go back. They’ve experienced nothing but death and destruction”.

Trump also claimed that Egypt and Jordan will not reject his proposition. “Well, I don’t think they’re going to tell me no. I think they’re going to tell Biden no,” said Trump.

US President said that his proposition is to shift out the whole population out of Gaza. To the question “how many people are you thinking about”, Trump said: “All of them. I mean, we’re talking about probably a million seven people, a million seven, maybe a million eight.” But I think all of them, he added.

“I think they’ll be resettled in areas where they can live a beautiful life and not be worried about dying every day,” added Trump.
