New Delhi, September 2: The Kashmir Files gave a few weeks of thrill to instant gratification-addicted people, as they forgot the miseries of the ‘exiled in their own country’ population quickly.

Now the Supreme Court on Friday ordered that the Kashmiri Pundits and Sikhs who had been forced out of the murderous ethnic cleansing of 1990s in the Kashmir valley petition before the Central and the state government.

The affected people who have been living in several refugee camps across the country had moved the apex court for their rehabilitation.

The petitioners had obviously moved the Supreme Court since the Central and the state governments in the last three decades made lip services to the anguish and sufferings of the Kashmiri Pundits and Sikhs.

While a few dozens or hundreds of them had been rehabilitated in the Kashmir valley in exclusive quarters, the Pundits came under targeted attack by the terrorists, with a number of them killed.

The Supreme Court Bench of Justices BR Gavai and CT Ravikumar heard the petition, which also had pleaded for the setting up of a special investigation team to probe the genocide of the Kashmiri Pundits, with the petitioners claiming that over one lakh of the Pundits had been killed in the valley.

The petitioners had also prayed for the Census of the Kashmiri Pundits who had been forced to live in different parts of the country.

The Kashmiri Pundits had several stages and for a had been seeking attention of the national and international audience to their plight, including their losses of properties in the Kashmir valley, which had been bought on adversarial terms on account for the pervasive fear instilled by the wave of terrorism.

The Jammu and Kashmir government before the revocation of the special provisions of the Article 370 has been seen to be in denials of the plight and losses of the Kashmiri pundits, with some even seeking to rationalize them by throwing the numbers of Muslims killed in the valley due to terrorism.
