China Aims 1 billion Humanoid Units by 2050, 1/3rd Global Share by 2029

New Delhi, March 7: By 2050, China is aiming to unleash one billion humanoid who will do everything that humans do. China’s gains in humanoids held centre stage at the ‘Two Sessions’.
Amid frenetic artificial intelligence race, China is aiming one-third global market share in humanoid by 2029. A report on the humanoid robot industry released at the 2024 World AI Conference claimed that “China’s humanoid robot market scale was approximately 2.76 billion yuan last year. By 2029, it is expected to expand to RMB 75 billion. This will be 32.7% of the global market”.
Bernstein Research Analysis in a report said that China aims to “establish more than one billion units” of humanoid by 2050. “The humanoids by 2050 will do everything that the humans do,” said the report in its analysis.
CN Wire in a report said that China is holding a half marathon for humanoids on April 13. Humanoids dancing on stages is now a common feature in China per reports.
China is aiming 10 million humanoid units this year, 2025, for tasks such as “mobility and perception capabilities, adoption in entertainment, R&D, education, patrols and inspections”.

The Chinese government spotlighted AI-enabled economy at the ‘Two Sessions’. Chinese Premier Li Qiang noted trade and technology barriers in his address to the ‘National People’s Congress’.

Humanoids, the chat box DeepSeek, and animation sensation Ne Zha 2 have awed the China observers in the recent months. Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted a conference with tech czars last month to signal his urgency to push for technology-enabled economic growth.
