New Delhi, November 1: The lacklustre campaign of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained the sharpness of Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday after the Uttar Pradesh chief minister pitched Hindutva and double-engine poll plank of the saffron outfit. Training his gun at the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in Rajasthan for the alleged poor law and order situations, Adityanath showcased his example to make a contrast between the two states.

“I wish to ask the Ashok Gehlot government that one one side you glorify the cow-smugglers and on the other hand you run bulldozers on Ashrams of the sacred Sants. Here, the Sants are killed, and cows are smuggled. Mothers and daughters are not safe. Properties of the traders are captured by goons,” said Adityanath while addressing an election rally in Alwar, Rajasthan. He asked the people to recall that “Kanhaiya Lal ka gala ret diya jaata hai, UP me hota to kya hota aap jaante haen (Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded; if it had taken place in UP, you know what would have happened)”.

He stated in the same vein that while Uttar Pradesh has a population of 25 crores but no goon can dare to lay hands on mother and daughters, properties of the traders cannot be captured. “The goons know that if they dare to do the evils the bulldozers will come for them,” added Adityanath.

The BJP in Rajasthan had been making efforts to raise the issue of the alleged deterioration of the law and order situation in the state by citing instances of rapes and murders in the last five years. The BJP is also amplifying the incident of the beheading of a tailor who had expressed support to the suspended party leader in Delhi Nupur Sharma.

While the Congress is drawing confidence from an aggressive pitch for the welfare schemes, the BJP is aiming to turn heat on the ruling party on the issue of the law and order situation while at the same time seeking to polarise the Hindu vote base in the state. The UP chief minister also laid emphasis on the gains of the double-engine government as he reeled out statistics of the poor people getting the houses built in his state along with toilets, and other welfare measures.

The BJP has been banking on the chief ministers of the party ruled stated to add sharpness to the campaign in Rajasthan after the media space for a long time was hogged by tales of faction fighting. The BJP is fielding senior leaders from other states to raise the poll pitch of the party in Rajasthan.
