Yogi Government Disburses Pensions to Over 35 Lakh Destitute Women

LUCKNOW, July 2, 2025 – In a push toward inclusive development and digital empowerment, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government rolled out a free technical training program for OBC youth and disbursed direct financial assistance to over 35.78 lakh destitute women under the state’s flagship pension scheme.

Free Computer Training Scheme for OBC Youth

The state government has launched the Computer Training Scheme 2025–26, offering free ‘O Level’ and ‘CCC’ computer training to eligible candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBC). Applications are open until July 14, 2025, via the official portalhttps://obccomputertraining.upsdc.gov.in.

Under the scheme:

Financial assistance of up to ₹15,000 is available for the 1-year O Level course.
₹3,500 support is provided for the 3-month CCC course.
Fees will be directly transferred to selected institutions or reimbursed to candidates post certificate verification.

Out of 435 applicants, 299 training institutions have been selected—52 offering O Level training, 43 providing CCC, and 204 delivering both. Minister of State for Backward Class Welfare and Divyangjan Empowerment, Narendra Kashyap, stated that unemployed boys and girls who have completed Intermediate (Class 12) and belong to families with annual income below ₹1 lakh are eligible.

Beneficiary selection will be done at the district level by a committee chaired by the District Magistrate, while training institution selection is handled at the directorate level. The scheme guidelines were revised on April 9, 2025, to enhance transparency.

Pensions for 35.78 Lakh Destitute Women Disbursed via DBT

In a parallel move reinforcing its pro-women agenda, the Yogi government has transferred ₹3,000 each (₹1,000 per month for three months) to 35.78 lakh destitute women across Uttar Pradesh in the first quarter of FY 2025–26 under the Nirashrit Mahila Pension Yojana.

Key highlights:

47,800 new beneficiaries added this quarter.
28.56 lakh beneficiaries are from rural areas, and 7.21 lakh from urban areas.
The application, verification, and payment processes are completed within set timeframes and entirely digitally, ensuring transparency.

Eligibility requires that the applicant be:

A widow, aged above 18 years,
A permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh,
With a family income below ₹2 lakh per year, and
Not receiving any other pension from state or central government.

Aiming to set benchmarks for transparency, the state government has mandated that applications are verified within 45 days, with approvals at the B.D.O., SDM, or Nagar Magistrate level, and final clearance by a district-level sanction committee. Payments are made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) using NIC and PFMS platforms.

B.S. Niranjan, Deputy Director of the Women Welfare Department and scheme nodal officer, said the administration is running panchayat-level awareness campaigns and has appointed nodal officers at the block and tehsil levels to simplify the application process, especially in rural areas.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has consistently emphasized that his government is committed to the welfare of the poor, women, and marginalized communities. These initiatives reflect that resolve—not just through financial support, but also by restoring dignity, self-reliance, and digital access to lakhs of families across the state.
