New Delhi, December 31, 2025 — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday reiterated his resolve for the “reunification of his country.” Saying that the reunification of Taiwan with mainland China is “unstoppable,” Xi spotlighted “one country, two systems.”

“Not long ago, I attended the opening ceremony of the National Games, and I was glad to see Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao coming together in unity and acting in unison,” Xi said in his speech.

Setting a backdrop for Taiwan, Xi further stated that “we should unswervingly implement the policy of One Country, Two Systems, and support Hong Kong and Macao in better integrating into the overall development of our country and maintaining long-term prosperity and stability.”

“We Chinese on both sides of the Taiwan Strait share a bond of blood and kinship. The reunification of our motherland, a trend of the times, is unstoppable,” asserted Xi.

The Chinese President is currently serving his third term. He has vowed the “reunification” of Taiwan by 2027. Ahead of his new-year speech, China had launched an unprecedented military drill to enforce a blockade of Taiwan.

China is raising the issue of the reunification of Taiwan on a regular basis. Beijing has also escalated tensions with Japan after Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi spoke of Tokyo’s existential threat if China were to attack Taiwan.

The US with President Donald Trump has been slammed by geopolitical analysts for emboldening Beijing to pursue the aggression with Taiwan by diluting American interests in the Indo Pacific.
