Strength Garners Respect: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Stresses India’s Role as a Powerful and Peace-Loving Nation
By TRH News Desk
NEW DELHI, May 17, 2025 – In a resounding endorsement of India’s strikes against Pakistan, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat said that the world “only understands the language of love when it is backed by strength”.
The RSS chief was speaking at a function in an Ashram in Rajasthan. His statements came in the backdrop of India-Pakistan conflicts.
India carried out strikes against nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK) on May in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. This led to a four-day long India-Pakistan conflicts, involving missile and drone attacks by the two nations.
Bhagwat while speaking at a special gathering at Ravinath Ashram on Sikar Road emphasized that “India’s identity is deeply rooted in sacrifice, service, and cultural heritage—but its strength is what commands global respect.”
“India does not harbour hatred against anyone. But if provoked, we know how to respond appropriately. The world has witnessed this strength time and again,” said the RSS chief.
Bhagwat had last spoken after the Pahalgam terror attack in New Delhi at a book launch function. He had advocated that “it’s the duty of the king to punish the habitual offenders.” The statement was seen an apparent greenlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to decide an assertive action against Pakistan-based terror launchpads.
India carried out Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, which highlighted a renewed assertion of India’s defence capabilities.
In his address, Bhagwat repeatedly underscored that strength is the only means by which a nation can effectively communicate its ideals to the world. “Until you possess strength, the world does not listen to your language of love,” said the RSS chief.
He likened India to an “elder brother” for many nations—capable of guidance, but never arrogant. He also praised India’s saints and spiritual leaders, calling them the torchbearers of the ancient Rishi tradition.
“Their presence continues to safeguard our culture and faith,” he said, encouraging all citizens to seek the company of saints for mental and spiritual upliftment.
Citing historical figures such as Lord Rama and Bhamashah, Bhagwat pointed out that India’s history is not just a tale of wars, but a saga of duty, righteousness, and public welfare. He called these qualities an inseparable part of India’s cultural DNA.
“From ancient times to the present, our civilization has stood for peace and harmony, and India remains committed to upholding these values on the world stage,” said Bhagwat.
Notably, Bhagwat had called on Modi at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence where they were also joined by Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah. A day after the meeting, the Union Cabinet had approved caste enumeration in the next Census. A few days later, India carried out Operation Sindoor.
The RSS per observers advocates a muscular nationalism, as well as an assertive stance in world geopolitics. The RSS also lays emphasis on India’s cultural ethos to support muscular nationalism.
