Yogi Govt Deploys 450 High-Tech Harvesters Across UP to Boost Farm Efficiency

By TRH News Desk

LUCKNOW, June 25, 2025 – In a major push for modernizing agriculture, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has deployed 450 modern combine harvesters across 62 districts, marking a significant step towards mechanized, technology-driven farming.

“This initiative is designed to boost agricultural productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and empower farmers by integrating scientific practices into traditional farming,” said the UP government in a media statement. The state-of-the-art harvesters, capable of harvesting, threshing, and cleaning crops in a single operation, are expected to reduce labour time while improving crop quality and yield.

In a standout move, 26 women farmers have taken charge of operating and managing these machines in 15 districts, including Siddharthnagar, Amethi, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, and Shahjahanpur. This marks a significant leap in women’s empowerment in agriculture, with women stepping into key roles in a domain traditionally dominated by men.

These women have been supported through schemes such as the Atmanirbhar Krishak Yojana, Samanvit Krishi Vikas Yojana, and the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, enabling access to training, machinery, and funding.

The distribution of harvesters is part of a broader state effort to transform farming practices. Notable allocations include:

  • Bareilly (46 machines)
  • Maharajganj, Fatehpur (31 each)
  • Rampur (27), Pilibhit (19), Sant Kabir Nagar (18)
  • Hardoi, Unnao (16 each), Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri (15 each)
  • Jhansi (11), Amethi, Pratapgarh, Gorakhpur (10 each)
  • Other districts such as Mainpuri, Kanpur, Siddharthnagar, Raebareli, Sultanpur, and Barabanki received between 6–9 machines each.

Districts like Varanasi, Ayodhya, Meerut, and Sonbhadra were also included in the mechanization drive, receiving a smaller number of harvesters.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of building a self-reliant and skilled farming community equipped with modern tools. The introduction of these machines is expected to transform agricultural output, strengthen rural livelihoods, and contribute to the overall economic progress of the state.

Officials believe the mechanization push will not only reduce manual hardship but also attract younger generations to agriculture by integrating technology with traditional know-how.
