Ghazipur, June 24 – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday declared Ghazipur a “mafia-free” district and announced a series of infrastructure and development initiatives aimed at accelerating the district’s transformation. The Chief Minister interacted with media and public representatives during his visit, pledging continued momentum in Ghazipur’s developmental journey.
Responding to local demands, Adityanath approved the much-awaited ‘Andhau–Chaukiya’ bypass, asserting that it would ease traffic congestion and drive growth. He also announced that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been initiated for the Chitnath Ghat–Collector Ghat corridor, with work expected to begin soon.
“Ghazipur is moving steadily in the right direction,” the Chief Minister said, adding that the state government is committed to an uninterrupted development process in the district. He noted that revenue dispute resolutions are being fast-tracked on merit.

Highlighting the success of the state’s recent police recruitment drive, Adityanath shared that 60,244 candidates have been recruited into Uttar Pradesh’s police force, including 1,534 from Ghazipur alone. He congratulated the selected candidates and their families, calling it a proud moment for the district.
From Forgotten Legacy to New Identity
The Chief Minister said Ghazipur, which once battled an identity crisis, is now establishing itself through projects like the Purvanchal Expressway and Maharshi Vishwamitra Medical College. He inspected the under-construction nursing college on the medical college campus and reviewed key infrastructure developments.
He disclosed that projects worth ₹1,100 crore have either been completed or are currently in progress in the district. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, work is being expedited to ensure clean drinking water for every household. The CM directed officials to ensure strict quality control in these projects.
Modern Infrastructure to Power Regional Growth
Adityanath outlined future connectivity plans, including linking the Purvanchal Expressway to Shaktinagar and integrating the Ganga Expressway with Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Varanasi, Chandauli, and eventually with the Purvanchal Expressway in Ghazipur.
“This modern infrastructure will redefine Ghazipur’s identity and bring prosperity to its people,” the Chief Minister said, promising that residents will soon witness the inauguration and foundation-laying of multiple key projects.
“With a firm stance on law and order and a vision rooted in infrastructure and opportunity, the Yogi government is positioning Ghazipur as a rising model of development in Purvanchal,” said the UP government in a media statement.
