By Raisina Correspondent

New Delhi, October 2: A report has claimed that a US funded entity had trained the activists to stage protests to oust Sheikh Hasina from power in Bangladesh. The report claimed on basis of documents that the US funded entity trained activists to launch campaign for ouster of Hasina from Bangladesh.

“Leaked documents reveal that prior to the toppling of Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina, the US govt-funded International Republican Institute trained an army of activists,” said Grayzone in a report.

The report claimed that the army of activists to be trained by the US government-funded entity included the likes of “rappers and LGBTQI people”. The events as a part of the plan per the report of Greyzone included hosting “transgender dance performances to achieve a national power shift”.

The Greyzone in its report quoted a staff of the Institute, saying that “the activists would cooperate with IRI to destabilize Bangladesh’s politics”.

Muhammed Yunus was appointed the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh after Hasina fled to India. Yunus is a longtime Clinton Global Initiative fellow.

At the felicitation by the Clinton Foundation, Yunus introduced three “leaders of the revolution” – two men and one woman – who led the violent movement to oust Hasina from Bangladesh.

“It’s not just suddenly came. It’s not like that… very well designed… even the leadership pattern… people don’t know who are the leaders… so you can’t catch one and say okay it’s over… it’s not over,” Yunus said while introducing three faces of the students’ protests that ousted Hasin from power.

Former US president Bill Clinton was cheerfully clapping to Yunus revealing the face of the “meticulously planned” campaign to oust Hasina.

Brahma Chellaney, a US-based strategic affairs commentator, identified the man introduced by Yunus to Clinton as Mahfuz Alam. He serves as special secretary to Yunus, a Nobel laurate, who had been leaving in Paris until he was chosen as Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh.

The Grayzone in its report said: “…leaked documents reviewed by The Grayzone confirm the State Department was informed of efforts by the International Republican Institute (IRI) to advance an explicitly stated mission to destabilize Bangladesh’s politics. The documents are marked as confidential and/or privileged.”

The media outlet stated that “IRI is a Republican Party-run subsidiary of the National Endowment for Democracy”. The digital outlet alleged that IRI was at forefront of “regime change operations across the globe since it was conceived in the office of CIA Director William Casey over forty years ago”.

The US State Department has dismissed allegations of a role in toppling the Hasina-led government in Bangladesh. Vedant Patel, the US State Department spokesperson, had told reporters that “any implication that the United States was involved in Sheikh Hasina’s resignation is absolutely false”.

The Grayzone in its report said: “The newly-uncovered files reveal how IRI spent millions in the lead-up to Hasina’s overthrow covertly coaching opposition parties and establishing a regime change network concentrated among the country’s urban youth.”

The report claimed that IRI had been working in Bangladesh since 2003. The US agency, said the report, was disillusioned with the failure of the Opposition, Bangladesh National Party, and resorted to train activists with “social media toolkits”. The strategy was to incite a spontaneous rebellion against the Hasina dispensation, added the report.
