Lucknow, April 20, 2025: In a move to bolster its global tourism appeal, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government will host a high-level foreign delegation for a week-long familiarization trip (fam trip) from April 23 to 30. The event aims to showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage, eco-tourism potential, and iconic destinations.
Organized by the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board, the initiative will bring travel industry representatives and writers from the UK, USA, Germany, and Australia to experience a specially curated route spanning historical, cultural, and nature-rich locales across the state.
A Cultural and Natural Odyssey Across Uttar Pradesh
“The fam trip will kick off in Agra, home to the world-famous Taj Mahal, and extend to Bateshwar and the Chambal Safari, offering a peek into the region’s wildlife and rural charm,” said the information department of UP.
It also stated that “the delegation will head to Kannauj, known as the ‘Perfume Capital of India’, to attend a special workshop on traditional perfume-making techniques”.
The group will then explore the state’s lush green wildlife destinations, including Dudhwa National Park, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, and Katerniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s growing emphasis on eco-tourism.
In Lucknow, the delegation will experience the city’s famed Awadhi cuisine, intricate Chikankari embroidery, and historical landmarks. “They will then travel to Prayagraj, visiting the confluence of the holy rivers at Sangam, heritage sites, and a unique rural retreat at the Planters’ Bungalow,” said the state government in a media statement.
The journey will culminate in Kashi (Varanasi), where the group will witness the iconic Ganga Aarti, visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and take in the spiritual ambience of the “Morning of Varanasi” while discovering the city’s famed arts, crafts, and traditional food.
Putting UP on the Global Tourism Map
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said the initiative marks a major step toward establishing Uttar Pradesh as a must-visit destination for international travelers.
“This trip will not only give global tour operators a firsthand experience of UP’s unmatched cultural and natural diversity but will also boost our efforts to position the state prominently on the world tourism map,” he said.
The delegation also includes travel writers and influencers, who are expected to amplify UP’s tourism potential through media articles, blogs, and social media content. Their real-time storytelling is expected to attract new tourist interest from across the world.
Singh emphasized that eco-tourism holds enormous promise for the state. The government, through the Eco-Tourism Development Board, is working to develop and promote sustainable tourism that celebrates UP’s natural beauty, biodiversity, and heritage.
With Uttar Pradesh already leading the country in domestic tourist footfall, the focus is now clearly shifting toward making the state a top choice for international tourists as well.
