Washington, February 9: U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated that he would buy Gaza. Trump said that a few parcels of the Gaza land may be given to the Middle East countries.

While speaking to reporters with Gulf of America map behind, Trump spoke of “his commitment to acquiring and controlling Gaza”. Trump also spoke of his “possible intention to distribute sections of the territory for development to other Middle Eastern countries”.

“I’m committed to buying and owning Gaza. As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it,” Trump told reporters on Sunday.

The U.S. President also spoke of the way his plan will unfold, saying that “other people may do it through our auspices. But we’re committed to owning it, taking it, and making sure that Hamas doesn’t move back.”

There’s nothing to move back into, he added. The U.S. President first spoke of buying Gaza in the presence of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The place (Gaza) is a demolition site. It’ll be…The remainder will be demolished,” added Trump.

Everything’s demolished, said Trump. “I mean, you can’t live in those buildings right now. They’re very unsafe. But we’ll make it into a very good site for future,’ said Trump.

His comments sparked international backlash and skepticism. The Middle East nations have dismissed his plan as unfeasible and provocative.

Trump’s aides are trying to calm down the sentiments in the Middle East. Even in the U.S., Trump plan to buy Gaza has just 47 per cent approval per reports.

Trump’s suggestion of permanently resettling Palestinians outside Gaza has riled up the world sentiments, in particular the Middle East and Europe.

Egypt and Jordan have rejected the idea of Trump to resettle Palestinians outside Gaza. But Trump told reporters that he will pressure Jordan to agree to his idea.

Middle East experts argued that Trump plan of resettling Palestinians could be a promise that he may have made to Netanyahu to make him agree for a ceasefire with the Hamas.
