New Delhi, July 19: Former US president Donald Trump thanked the Republican nomination for the November election with a 93-minute-long speech in which he sought a “whole of America” victory.

While Trump almost gave a victory speech at the Republican National Convention, the incumbent US president, Joe Biden, is reportedly mulling a pullout from the race.

Trump said: “I am running for the whole of America, and not half of the America.” He added that there is no victory in winning half of America.

The American political scientist Ian Bremmer in a note said that Trump gave the longest speech in the American history. “He is winning,” added Bremmer.

Trump struck an emotional chord in his speech. He almost gave a graphic account of the assassination attempt on him in Pennsylvania.

“If I had not moved my head at that very last instant, the assassin’s bullet would have perfectly hit its mark. And I would not be here tonight. We would not be together,” Trump said at the RNC in his acceptance speech.

At the conclusion of the RNC, Daily Show in a newsbreak said that Biden is mulling a pullout from the race. The American broadcaster claimed in a source-based newsbreak that Biden is finally coming to the consideration that he may have to weigh the possibility of considering the persuasion of the Democrat leaders on his running against Trump.

The spotlight has now in the US turned to Biden’s deputy, the vice-president, Kamala Harris. Biden’s last hope of support from his former boss, the former president, Barack Obama, is also now reported to have vanished.

Commentators in the US noted that the Democrats may still have a chance, for Trump remains Trump. “Trump remains Trump. For a battered, demoralized Democratic Party, that may be the one piece of good news this week,” Jeff Greenfield wrote for the Politico.

Trump vowed to throw the illegal immigrants. He termed flow of immigrants through the US-Mexico border as an invasion.

The 78-year-old Republican also asserted that he would unveil an “America First” foreign policy. This is widely known as an isolationist foreign policy. Trump also vowed dumping duties on trade.

The four-day-long RNC was held in Wisconsin. The state is known for swings in presidential election.

The US-based commentators underline in their commentaries that the November election so far is about two “most unpopular leaders”.
