Trump Escalates Mass Deportation Push with Democrat Strongholds in Crosshairs Amid Los Angeles Protests

By TRH News Desk

NEW DELHI, June 16, 2025In a fiery Truth Social post, US President Donald Trump doubled down on his pledge to execute “the largest Mass Deportation Operation of Illegal Aliens in History.” He ordered Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to intensify efforts in major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.

Calling these cities as “the core of the Democrat Power Center,” Trump accused Democrats of using undocumented immigrants to “expand their voter base, cheat in elections, and grow the welfare state.” He vowed to restore “safety to America’s urban centers.”

The post comes amid escalating protests in Los Angeles over ICE raids and a federal crackdown that sparked sharp criticism and legal pushback from Democratic leaders.

In his post, Trump praised ICE officers for their “incredible strength, determination, and courage” in the face of “violence, harassment, and even threats from Radical Democrat Politicians.” He ordered ICE to “do all in their power” to achieve the deportation goals, emphasizing a focus on sanctuary cities where, he claims, “Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside.”

Trump framed the operation as a response to “crime-ridden and deadly Inner Cities,” accusing Democrats of hating America and promoting policies like “Open Borders, Transgender for Everybody, and Men playing in Women’s Sports.”

He concluded by rallying support from “REAL Americans” and directing his administration to allocate “every resource possible” to reverse what he called “Mass Destruction Migration.”

Trump’s directive follows a week of violent protests in Los Angeles, triggered by ICE raids targeting undocumented immigrants. According to PBS News, protests erupted after federal authorities conducted sweeps in locations like the city’s fashion district and a Home Depot, leading to clashes with police and dozens of arrests.

The unrest prompted Trump to deploy 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to the city, a move California Governor Gavin Newsom called a “brazen abuse of power.”

The Los Angeles Police Department imposed a curfew, threatening “mass arrests” for curfew violations, while protesters blocked freeways and set autonomous vehicles ablaze.

Local leaders and advocates have condemned the raids. Los Angeles City Councilmember Ysabel Jurado described a raid in the Fashion District as “state violence designed to silence, to intimidate, to disappear,” arguing it targeted nonviolent immigrants rather than criminals.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced a lawsuit against the Trump administration, challenging the National Guard deployment as a violation of state sovereignty.

Trump’s post explicitly targets Democratic strongholds, accusing them of harbouring undocumented immigrants to bolster political power. TIME reports that ICE has arrested 82,000 people in recent months, with raids expanding to schools, parks, and restaurants, often in sanctuary cities.

NBC News notes that ICE’s “Operation At Large” involves over 5,000 federal law enforcement personnel and up to 21,000 National Guard troops, with a goal of detaining 3,000 migrants daily. The Washington Post highlights California as a prime target, home to “nearly a quarter of the nation’s 11 million undocumented immigrants.”

The New Republic cited a letter from six vulnerable House Republicans urging ICE to focus on “convicted criminal aliens” rather than noncriminal immigrants, revealing internal GOP concerns about the political fallout of indiscriminate deportations. Meanwhile, Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, defended the Los Angeles raids as targeting criminals, though ICE data shows 44% of detainees lack criminal histories.
