New Delhi, March 18: Russia has agreed to cease attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine for 30 days. In over two-hour-long phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave immediate order to implement the 30-day ceasefire on energy infrastructure in Ukraine.

The White House said that “Putin and Trump agreed on an energy and infrastructure ceasefire, as well as technical negotiations on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, full ceasefire and permanent peace”. “These negotiations will begin immediately in the Middle East,” added the White House in its statement.

Russian media, meanwhile, quoted the Kremlin, to state that “Putin informed Trump that on Wednesday, Russia and Ukraine will conduct a prisoner exchange under the formula 175 for 175”. “Russia, as a gesture of goodwill, will hand over 23 severely wounded Ukrainian servicemen to Kyiv,” reported the Russian media.
