Trump Talks to Putin, Zelenskyy to Negotiate Peace Deal

Washington, February 12: U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that he and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed to negotiate to end the Ukraine War. Trump also spoke to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the first meeting of negotiations in Munich, Germany on Friday.

Trump also announced a team led by Secretary of the State Marco Rubio to begin work forthwith to negotiate the peace deal.

“I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, Energy, Artificial Intelligence, the power of the Dollar, and various other subjects,” said Trump in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.

Trump also spoke to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “The conversation went very well. He, like President Putin, wants to make PEACE. We discussed a variety of topics having to do with the War, but mostly, the meeting that is being set up on Friday in Munich,’ said Trump.

He also stated that Vice President JD Vance and Rubio will lead the delegation at the Munich meeting with the Russian and the Ukrainian delegations.

“I am hopeful that the results of that meeting will be positive. It is time to stop this ridiculous War, where there has been massive, and totally unnecessary, death and destruction,” added Trump.

Trump dialled Putin to thank him for releasing an American teacher Marc Fogel. “I want to thank President Putin for his time and effort with respect to this call, and for the release, yesterday, of Marc Fogel, a wonderful man that I personally greeted last night at the White House,” added Trump.

Trump also announced that Rubio will lead a team consisting of Director of the CIA John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Ambassador and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

The U.S. President also said that he and Putin agreed to visit each other’s nation for bilateral talks. Trump’s announcement has stunned the geopolitical observers.

Experts have stated that Trump unilaterally has bound Ukraine into a peace negotiation. Trump didn’t even consult the Nato before talking to Putin.

“We both reflected on the Great History of our Nations, and the fact that we fought so successfully together in World War II, remembering, that Russia lost tens of millions of people, and we, likewise, lost so many,” added Trump.

The U.S. President had earlier announced that he would be sending the Treasury Secretary to Ukraine.
