Trump Picks up Anti-immigration Hawk Stephen Miller for White House Post

By Raisina Correspondent

New Delhi, November 11: US President-elect Donald Trump in his first major appointment unveiled loyalty plank for future administrative roles under his presidency. Trump also proposed the name of Stephen Miller as his deputy chief of staff for policy.

Miller is an anti-immigration hawk. The CNN reported Miller will be the deputy chief of staff for policy for Trump in the White House.

The CNN in its report said that “Miller, who served as a senior adviser to Trump during his first administration and has been a leading advocate for more restrictive immigration policy, is expected to take on an expanded role in the president-elect’s second term”.

Miller has been raising the voice for mass deportation of undocumented immigrants in the US. His plan sounds similar to the UK’s bid to deport the illegal immigrants Rwanda. The CNN said that Milker seeks to scale up deportation to tenfold to more than one million per year.

Trump earlier proposed Elise Stefanik, the Congress Republican, for the post of the ambassador in the United Nations.

The appointment has come after Trump went public with his negative list in which he ruled out Mike Pompeo, the former secretary of the state, as well as Nikki Haley. “Elise Stefanik chosen to serve as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations. This will be Trump’s first maga appointee in that position, a notable contrast to Kelly craft and Nikki Haley in Trump’s first term,” said Ian Bremmer in a post on X. Bremmer is a strategic affairs analyst in the US.

Stefanik is a staunch Trump loyalist. She had been defending Trump in his turbulent times in the first term when he had faced an impeachment bid.

“I am honored to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter,’ said Trump in a media statement.

The CNN had over the weekend reported that Stefanik would be the Trump choice for the UN position. The media reports said Stefanik was in the contention for the Vice President nomination in the Republican party.

Stefanik had her stints in New York’s 21st district, as well as assisting George W. Bush and Mitt Romney. She was also vocal in questioning the 2020 US Elections outcome when Trump lost to Joe Biden.
