Trump Celebrates Apple’s $70B China Exit: iPhone Production Moves to India by 2026
By TRH News Desk
New Delhi, April 25, 2025: A triumphant Trump Community post on Truth Social celebrated Apple’s decision to move all US-bound iPhone production from China to India by the end of 2026, calling it a triumph of his “tough on China tariffs” and America First trade policies.
“The tech giant’s plan to assemble over 60 million iPhones annually in India marks a seismic shift, stripping China of a $70 billion revenue stream while boosting jobs in a US-friendly nation,” the post quoted a report by Reuters saying.
“Apple Ditches Communist China, Moves All US iPhone Production to India by 2026,” Trump Community posted, claiming the move “hits Beijing where it hurts” and aligns with his vision of breaking free from globalist supply chains.
Apple’s decision, spurred by tariffs exceeding 100 per cent on Chinese imports, follows months of urgent talks with manufacturers Foxconn and Tata to ramp up India’s production capacity.
Posts on X echoed Trump’s enthusiasm, with users like @TheScoopUS declaring, “Tariffs WORK. Bringing jobs home, crushing CCP reliance, and making China sweat. MAGA wins!”
“India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pro-business reforms, has emerged as a manufacturing hub, offering lower tariffs (26 per cent vs. China’s 100 per cent+) and incentives that make it an attractive alternative,” read the post on Trump community.
Apple, which currently produces 10-15 per cent of its iPhones in India, aims to double output to meet US demand, leveraging factories in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, reports said.
The shift could create 200,000 jobs in India and increase its share of global iPhone production to over 26 per cent, per The Economic Times. Trump’s tariffs, which also hit Vietnam (46 per cent) and other Asian nations, have pressured companies to rethink reliance on China.
Analysts said that Apple’s move signals a broader trend, with other tech giants and manufacturers eyeing India to dodge steep duties. Companies like Samsung, already producing Galaxy models in Noida, could shift more US-bound exports to India, potentially redirecting $55 billion in electronics from Vietnam, said media reports.
Google, assembling Pixel phones in India, may expand operations to avoid China’s tariffs. Dell and HP, with existing Indian facilities, are poised to scale up laptop and server production.
Tesla, exploring Indian factories, could accelerate plans to manufacture EV components locally. Smaller firms like Jabil and Flex, key electronics suppliers, are also investing in India’s growing ecosystem.
However, challenges remain. Manufacturing costs in India are 5-8 per cent higher than in China and scaling to meet global demand requires massive investment, added analysts. Critics on X, like @Philmoorhouse76, noted irony in production moving to India rather than the US, despite Trump’s push for domestic manufacturing.
Still, Trump’s administration sees Apple’s exodus as proof that tariffs are reshaping global trade, with White House officials predicting more companies will follow to avoid China’s economic stranglehold.
“America is winning again, and China’s feeling the heat,” Trump Community post declared, framing the shift as a blow to Beijing’s dominance. “As India cements its role as a tech manufacturing powerhouse, the world economy is realigning under the weight of MAGA’s trade strategy,” it added.
