TVK Leader Vijay Announces Plan to Contest 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

New Delhi, October 27: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and popular film actor Vijay made his forays in the Tamil Nadu politics on Sunday with his maiden public meeting. With touch of cinematic choreography, Vijay took the stage with bouncers surrounding him to announce his arrival in the Tamil politics.
Vijay wedded his party to the “Secular Social Justice” ideologies. He announced that Dravidian identity and Dravidian nationalism are the two eyes of Tamil pride. Vijay too lent his support for caste census.
The actor-turned-politician identified corruption and communalism as his two enemies. Vijay drew a huge applause when he raised his hand to state that he quit the film career at the peak. That was done for the social cause of Tamil Nadu, Vijay asserted.

The new political star in Tamil Nadu held his first major public meeting in the Vikravandi area of Viluppuram district. The crowd was mammoth.
Vijay spelt out that the ruling DMK is the principal political foe of his party. He also stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is an “ideological enemy”.
His fans on the social media platforms hailed Vijay’s entry in the Tamil Nadu politics. They claimed that Vijay’s TVK will replace the AIADMK in the state politics.
Tamil Nadu politics is majorly dominated by politicians with past in the film industry. Top political icons of Tamil Nadu had in their youth gained stardom in the film world.

Vijay gave dramatic touch to his entry to the stage. He sprinted for a while. He picked up offerings threw at him by his fans. Estimates suggested that a three-lakh strong crowd turned up to listen to the political vision of the actor-turned-politician.
“We have unshakeable faith in the people. They will make us victorious with a single majority in the 2026 Assembly elections,” said Vijay. He is aiming to contest the next Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
The state politics is majorly dominated by the DMK and the AIADMK with a host of smaller political parties also vying for caste votes. The BJP too is aiming to play a big role in the 2026 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
For several years, the Tamil Nadu political space speculated about the Tamil superstar Rajnikanth launching his political party. But the film star continues to stay away from active politics with focus on films.
