NEW DELHI, September 15, 2025 —US President Donald Trump has weighed in on the shocking murder of Indian-American Chandra Nagamallaiah in Dallas, Texas, using the crime to intensify his anti-immigration message as the 2025 campaign heats up.

In a social media post on Monday, Trump described the killing — a brutal beheading allegedly carried out in front of the victim’s wife and son by a Cuban national — as a failure of former President Joe Biden’s administration to secure US borders. He said the suspect, an “illegal alien from Cuba,” had a history of criminal offenses, including child sex abuse and grand theft auto, but was released because Havana refused to take him back.

“This individual should have never been in our country… Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch!” Trump wrote, pledging that the accused will be prosecuted for murder in the first degree.

The case has sent shockwaves through Texas’ Indian-American community, where Nagamallaiah was described as a respected family man. While investigations continue, Trump’s response underscores how his campaign is framing violent crimes by undocumented migrants as evidence of systemic failure under Biden.

Analysts note that Trump has repeatedly used such incidents to bolster his longstanding pledge to “Make America Safe Again” by tightening border enforcement and expanding deportations. The Dallas killing is likely to fuel fresh debate over crime, public safety, and America’s fractured immigration system.
