After five punishing sessions, Nifty stages a dramatic rebound from the 25,500 zone as bulls seize control

By S JHA

Mumbai, January 12, 2026 — Bears had hammered Indian stock markets for five days. Key pivots had cracked. The week opened with brutal assault of bears, Indices sank. But fortunes are made in times of miseries.

Chartists had long warned that a crack of 25700 will open the way for 25500 for Nifty. On Monday, Nifty went lower, briefly slipping under 25500. But bulls put their acts together. They sniffed gains. For them, the markets had bottomed out.

The bulls rode heavyweights to pull the indices. The repair was quick. In a short span of time, they had given the Nifty an over 300 points of rebound. Extraordinary would be a short compliment. Believers had to sweep away the pall of gloom. They stepped in at a time when portfolios were bleeding. When they called the day, the belief was back in the markets.

“From a technical standpoint, the 50-DEMA at 25900 is expected to serve as an intermediate hurdle, followed by a strong resistance level at the 26000 mark, which coincides with the 20-DEMA,” Angel One said in a post-market commentary shared with clients.

Delhi-based brokerage firm stated that “a decisive breakthrough above these levels could only reignite bullish sentiment in the upcoming session. On the lower end, 25680-25650 remains a pivotal support zone and is likely to cushion any shortcomings.”

The brokerage also stated that “the recent swing low, coinciding with the November month closure around 25500-25470, is likely to be the sacrosanct support zone.”
