A bridge built at a cost of ₹4 crores and inaugurated in 2022 sank at its mid-level in Araria.

Patna, November 3, 2025 — Within 40 kms of the venue where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting, a bridge sank to bare claims of the development model of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state. A bridge built at a cost of ₹4 crores and inaugurated in 2022 sank at its mid-level in Araria. The Prime Minister addressed a public meeting in the nearby Katihar city.

The bridge in Araria was built over the Parman River. It was opened for the public use in 2022. Incidentally, a newly constructed bridge over the Bakra River in Pararia village in Araria had also collapsed in June this year.

In the last one year, several bridges have either been washed away or they collapsed soon after their inaugurations. There was no official explanations available over the sinking of the Araria bridge.

A user named Surbhi on X shared a timeline of bridge collapses in Bihar, saying “a decades-old bridge over the Gandaki River collapsed had collapsed in Siwan on June 23, 2024; an under-construction bridge fell in Ghodasahan block in east Champaran this year; two bridges collapsed on June 27–30, 2024 in Kishanganj — one built in 2007–08 with MPLAD funds, and another in 2011.” She also claimed that bride collapse incidents were reported from multiple districts such as Kishanganj, Araria, Madhubani, Saran, and Siwan. An under-construction bridge in Sultanganj had also been washed away last year.
