SRINAGAR, August 2, 2025 — In a significant development, the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 has been suspended from August 3 onwards due to heavy rainfall and urgent repair needs on both pilgrimage routes — Baltal and Pahalgam. The announcement was made by the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, citing concerns over safety and infrastructure stability.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri stated: “Due to recent heavy rains, critical repair and maintenance works are required on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. With continued deployment of men and machinery from tomorrow, the Yatra cannot resume. The pilgrimage is therefore suspended from August 3.”
The annual Amarnath Yatra saw over 4.10 lakh pilgrims offering prayers at the sacred cave shrine this year before the suspension.
