New Delhi, December 30: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been projected by the political resolution adopted in the national council meeting of the Janata Dal (United) as most suitable for the post of the prime minister. The resolution claimed that the backward class, minorities, and the unemployed see Kumar as a hope.

The political resolution pours waters on claims made in some quarters of the Bihar chief minister once more joining hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Kumar took over as president of the JD (U) after calling an unscheduled meeting of the national council of the party at the Constitution Club in the national capital on December 28-29.

To further shield Kumar against the brewing speculations of joining hands with the BJP, the political resolution also came down heavily against suspension of the Opposition MPs from both the houses of parliament. The resolution said that the suspendion of 146 MPs was against the norms of democracy. Additionally, the resolution reiterated the chief minister’s claim that the Centre is step-motherly treating Bihar, and raised the demand for the special category status.

But Kumar has foxed even hardened political observers with his decisions. His decision to part ways with the BJP after the saffron outfit declared Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial face in 2013 and Kumar’s re-joining hands once more ahead of the 2019 LOk Sabha elections on the claims that the RJD had hatched conspiracies tor break his party have now acquired legendary proportions.

Thus, the statements made by KC Tyagi, who is now the voice of the party in New Delhi, gives intriguing dimension to the ‘Nitish Kumar Mystery’. Tyagi’s vocal association with ‘Sanatan Dharma’, as well as willingness of the Bihar chief minister to go to Ayodhya is he is invited break ranks with the constituents of the Opposition bloc, the Indian National Developmental and Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).

Speaking to the reporters in the lawn of the Constitution Club, Tyagi said: “The consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya is not a programme of a party but for all those who have faith in the Sanatan Dharma. We are Sanatanis. Our party believes in Sanatan Dharma.” He also said that the Bihar chief minister would go to Ayodhya if he is invited.

Tyagi, thus, bared the distancing of the JD (U) from the constituents of the Opposition block. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be skipping the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22. The Trinamool Congress will not be sending any of the party leaders to Ayodhya. The CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has said that he wouldn’t be going to Ayodhya while underlining that “religion is a personal belief”.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has reportedly been not yet invited by the Ram Temple Trust, and he would be leading his ‘Nyaya Yatra’, which sets out from January 14 to March 20. Incumbent Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge and Sonia Gandhi have been invited.
