Patna, November 17, 2025 — The Bihar Assembly election results have triggered a political earthquake inside the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and its tremors have shaken Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family to the core. After the RJD collapsed to just 25 seats, the simmering feud within the Yadav household has burst into full public view.

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya, who once donated her kidney to save her father’s life, has now announced that she is quitting both the party and the family. Her statement marks the most dramatic rupture ever seen in Bihar’s most influential political clan.

Rohini has levelled extraordinary allegations against her brother and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and his two closest advisers — Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat — accusing them of abuse, intimidation and even being hit with a slipper.

She told reporters while leaving for Delhi: “I have no family now. Go and ask Sanjay, Rameez and Tejashwi. They threw me out… If you question them about the defeat, you will be abused and beaten with slippers.”

Who Are the Two Advisers at the Centre of the Storm?

  1. Sanjay Yadav — The Controversial ‘Chanakya’ of Tejashwi

A long-time strategist from Haryana’s Mahendragarh, Sanjay Yadav has been central to every major political decision Tejashwi has made since 2015. With an M.Sc in Computer Science and an MBA, Sanjay is seen as Tejashwi’s most powerful aide — often called his “right hand”.

But his growing clout has angered old RJD leaders and even Lalu’s own sons.

  • Former MLA Madan Shah accused him of “selling tickets.”
  • Tej Pratap, Lalu’s elder son, once declared a “Haryanvi scriptwriter has hijacked the family.”
  • Workers often complain that meeting Tejashwi requires first “passing Sanjay Yadav’s tests.”

During Tejashwi’s Bihar Adhikar Yatra, a fight erupted when Sanjay sat in the front seat of the campaign bus, triggering protests from family members — a symbolic moment showing his rising dominance.

In 2024, the RJD sent him to the Rajya Sabha, confirming his elevated position in the party.

  1. Rameez Nemat — Tejashwi’s Friend With a Criminal Past

Rameez, from Uttar Pradesh’s Balrampur, is the son-in-law of ex-MP Rizwan Zaheer. A former first-class cricketer, he is considered part of Tejashwi’s inner circle since their cricketing days.

But Rameez’s record is marred by serious accusations:

  • Named in the murder case of ex-chairman Firoz Pappu.
  • Faced charges under the National Security Act and Gangster Act.
  • Multiple cases registered in Balrampur and Kaushambi.
  • Was lodged in Balrampur jail until getting bail in April 2025.

Despite this, he oversees Tejashwi’s daily routine and campaign management.

Why Did the Rift Explode Now?

According to sources, Rohini was already upset about being restricted during the campaign. Although brought from Singapore to canvass, she was allegedly allowed to campaign only in Raghopur, not in Chapra’s multiple seats as she wished. After the RJD’s disastrous performance, she says she was blamed for internal conflicts sending a “wrong message” to voters.

With tensions simmering, the election defeat became the breaking point.

Tej Pratap vs Tejashwi: Old Rivalry Reignites

The brothers’ cold war is no secret. After the results, Tej Pratap publicly mocked Tejashwi as “Failashwi” and praised the Prime Minister — an unprecedented move for a member of Lalu’s family.

An old viral video shows Tej Pratap pointing to a helicopter carrying Tejashwi and saying:
“Look, the ‘Jai Chand’ is sitting beside him.”
The reference was widely understood to be aimed at Sanjay Yadav.

Property Dispute Adds Fuel to the Fire

RJD insiders say property division has deepened the family rift.

  • Tej Pratap declared assets worth ₹2.88 crore.
  • Tejashwi declared assets worth ₹8.1 crore, nearly three times more, including the holdings of his wife and children.

This disparity, insiders claim, is another source of tension.

A Full-Blown Family Implosion?

Rohini’s exit, paired with Tej Pratap’s public attacks, suggests that the Lalu family feud is far from over. With the RJD and the Mahagathbandhan suffering their worst-ever defeat under Tejashwi’s leadership, the battle inside the family — once hidden behind closed doors — is now out on full display.
