Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust appoints former Air Force Vice Chief Jeetendra Mishra as its first Chief Executive Officer, bringing nearly four decades of military leadership experience to the temple administration.
New Delhi, September 2, 2026 — The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra as its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking a significant change in the administrative structure of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Trust held in Ayodhya on September 2, 2026, during which several important administrative matters were discussed, including the appointment of the CEO, filling vacancies in the Trust, approval of the annual accounts for 2025-26 and the progress of a special investigation committee.
The appointment of Mishra follows the recommendation of a committee constituted to select the new CEO. The Trust said the selection process involved scrutiny of 5,585 applications and interviews of hundreds of applicants.
Jeetendra Mishra to become Ram Temple’s first CEO
Mishra brings extensive experience from his nearly 39-year career in the Indian Air Force to the new position.
According to the Trust’s press release, Mishra has served in various departments of the Indian Air Force and held several leadership positions. He has also been awarded the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal, described in the release as the highest military medal.
The Trust also noted that the successful Operation Sindoor was conducted under Mishra’s leadership and guidance.
The appointment comes as the Trust moves towards a more structured administrative mechanism for the management of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple.
The CEO selection committee had recommended Mishra’s name after considering the applications and conducting interviews. The Trust expressed hope that he would take charge of his responsibilities soon.
The Trust said its selection committee comprised retired Supreme Court judge Justice Pramod Kohli, retired Lieutenant General Vishnukant Chaturvedi, Suresh Hawade and committee secretary Sameer Pandey.
The committee examined around 5,500 applications and interviewed hundreds of applicants as part of the selection process.
Following deliberations on the committee’s recommendation, the Trust selected Mishra for the newly created CEO position.
The appointment effectively creates a dedicated top-level administrative position within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Three new trustees appointed
The Trust meeting also approved the appointment of three new trustees to fill vacant positions.
The newly appointed trustees are Mahesh Bhagchandka, Madan Mohan Pandey and Dr Nirmala Yadav.
The Trust also discussed responsibilities among its office-bearers.
According to the press release, Swami Govinddev Giri will continue as Mahamantri, while Mahesh Bhagchandka will take charge as Koshadhyaksh (Treasurer).
The Trust expressed its appreciation to Shri Krishna Mohan for successfully discharging the responsibilities of Mahamantri during the previous two months, which the release described as a difficult and challenging period.
Financial accounts approved
The Trust also considered and approved the annual accounts for the financial year 2025-26.
According to the figures released by the Trust, total income during the year stood at approximately ₹237 crore, while expenditure was around ₹99 crore.
The Trust also incurred capital expenditure of approximately ₹425 crore on construction and related works.
As of March 31, 2026, the Trust had total available funds of approximately ₹1,882 crore, according to the press release.
The accounts were approved by the Trust’s board.
Administrative transition at Ram Temple
The appointment of Jeetendra Mishra as the first CEO is therefore the central decision emerging from the September 2 Trust meeting.
With a senior retired Air Force officer taking charge of the CEO’s position, the Trust is establishing a dedicated administrative leadership role while simultaneously making changes to its governing body and reviewing its financial and organisational processes.
Mishra’s long experience in leadership and administration in the Indian Air Force will now be brought to the management of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra.
The Trust said it hopes the newly appointed CEO will assume charge of his responsibilities soon.
The appointment represents a new chapter in the administrative management of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, with the Trust placing a senior military leader with extensive organisational and leadership experience at the helm of its executive administration.
