A fresh controversy has emerged around the Ram Temple project in Ayodhya. An engineer associated with the construction has alleged a 40% commission system and billing irregularities involving a trustee.

Ayodhya, June 20, 2026 — Fresh controversy has erupted around the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya after an engineer associated with the project allegedly accused a senior temple trustee of demanding a 40 percent commission on construction-related payments.

According to a report published by Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, Prayagraj-based engineer Deenanath Verma, who was associated with the temple construction project, has alleged that “Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust trustee Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra received commissions on construction works and that he faced threats after objecting to the alleged practice.”

The allegations surfaced amid an ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged theft of offerings (donations) made at the Ram Temple. Dainik Jagran reported that Verma claimed irregularities in billing and procurement processes during the construction phase.

Verma alleged that construction materials were billed at quantities significantly higher than those actually supplied. As an example, he reportedly claimed that when 200 sacks of material arrived at the site, bills were prepared for 300 sacks. According to the report, contractors allegedly informed him that commissions had to be paid to Dr. Mishra.

The engineer further claimed that when he raised concerns about inflated bills and procurement irregularities, he was warned against pursuing the matter. He also alleged that an aluminum-related contract was awarded to a person known to Dr. Mishra and that objections to allegedly excessive billing were ignored.

According to Dainik Jagran, Verma said he informed trust General Secretary Champat Rai about the alleged irregularities and even shared recordings related to the matter. He claimed that despite being aware of the concerns, no effective action was taken.

The newspaper reported that attempts were made to contact Dr. Anil Mishra for his response, but he could not be reached.

The allegations come as the SIT investigates the alleged donation theft case. According to the report, investigators are examining possible lapses in financial transparency, cash-handling procedures, CCTV monitoring, and verification mechanisms related to temple donations.

No official response from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust regarding Verma’s allegations was available at the time of publication.

(This report is based on allegations reported by Dainik Jagran. The claims have not been independently verified, and no findings of wrongdoing have been established.)
