NEW DELHI, August 7, 2025 — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday levelled serious allegations of large-scale electoral fraud in the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency during the 2024 general elections, claiming that the seat was “stolen” through fraudulent manipulation of voter rolls.
Speaking at a press conference, Gandhi said the Congress launched an internal probe after party surveys projected 16 seats in Karnataka, but only nine were won. One of the most glaring discrepancies emerged from Bangalore Central, where Congress candidate Mansoor Ali Khan lost to BJP’s PC Mohan by a margin of 32,707 votes.
The Congress investigation focused on the Mahadevapura assembly segment, where “over 1.14 lakh entries in the voter list were flagged as suspicious.” Gandhi alleged that the Election Commission deliberately provided non-machine-readable lists to obstruct OCR (Optical Character Recognition)-based digital audits.
Key Findings from the Congress Probe:
- Duplicate voters: 11,965
(Example: Gurkirat Singh Dang registered multiple times, even across states) - Fake or invalid addresses: 40,009
(Addresses either did not exist or were clearly fabricated) - Bulk registrations at a single address: 10,452
(Example: 68 voters registered at “153 Biere Club,” a brewery) - Invalid or indistinguishable photos: 4,132
(Photos either missing or micro-sized and unusable) - Misuse of Form 6: 33,692
(Meant for first-time voters but used to add illegal entries — e.g., a 70-year-old woman registered twice in 2 months)
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra: “Democracy is being dismantled”
Echoing Rahul Gandhi’s charges, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra issued a strong statement, declaring that over 1 lakh votes were stolen in Mahadevapura alone through five specific methods. She alleged that the election was stolen through ways of duplicate voters, fake addresses, single address and multiple voters, and non-photo voter cards were issued. “Rahul has submitted irrefutable evidence to prove how elections were stolen,” Vadra alleged.
Priyanka Gandhi’s statement reinforces the Congress’s accusation that systematic electoral manipulation is undermining democratic processes in India, especially in urban constituencies where digital tracking of voter data is essential but allegedly obstructed.
Gandhi also alleged that the party faced similar defeat in Haryana Assembly elections. “We lost Haryana elections by just eight Assembly seats. In total two crore electorate base, the total votes polled by the Congress in these eight Assembly seats were just less by 22,779 votes,” alleged Gandhi.
The Congress leader had earlier claimed that his party had “atom bomb in proofs to establish that the 2024 Lok Sabha mandate had been stolen.” Union Minister for Defence Rajnath Singh had dared Gandhi to release the evidence.
