By Raisina Correspondent

New Delhi, January 4: Senior Punjab Congress leaders today cautioned people of Delhi against the “fake and bogus promises of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal”. The Punjab Congress leaders will campaign in the Delhi elections.

“They particularly warned women of Delhi about ₹2100 monthly stipend promised to them by Kejriwal, citing the example of Punjab, where a similar promise was made three years ago, but nothing has been done till now,” the Congress said in a media statement on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at the Vijay Chowk here today, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa along with the AICC treasurer Ajay Maken, Delhi Congress president Devinder Yadav and others, said, before Punjab elections three years ago, Kejriwal had promised to pay every woman of the state ₹1000 every month.

Both Warring and Bajwa pointed, almost three years have passed since the AAP formed government in Punjab after people gave them a massive mandate, and they are yet to fulfil this promise. “The Congress leaders from Punjab will extensively campaign across Delhi during the assembly elections and warn people about the fake promises of the AAP and its leader Kejriwal,” Warring said.

He said, when Kejriwal was asked at that time from where he will get money for these populist schemes, he (Kejriwal) had said, he will generate ₹20,000 crore every year from sand mining and ₹34,000 will be saved by curbing corruption.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab CLP leader Partap Bajwa asked Kejriwal to pay ₹34,000 crore that is overdue to about one crore women of Punjab, which he had promised before the elections there. He urged people of Delhi that “if they want progress and development, they must vote for a Congress government”.

He referred to the 15-year rule of the Congress led by late Sheila Dikshit, saying those were glorious years of progress in Delhi. Similarly, he added, 10-year UPA rule was a golden period for the country.

He alleged that Kejriwal was “the biggest fraud of the century who could lie to daughters, mothers and sisters by promising to pay them ₹1000 every month and backing out later”. He said, Kejriwal owes ₹34,000 crore so far to the women of Punjab.

Bajwa said, people of Punjab were ruing and regretting having elected AAP while referring to deteriorating law and order situation in the state with progress having come to a grinding halt.

Replying to a question, Ajay Maken reiterated his stand on Kejriwal. He said his description of Kejriwal as ‘Farziwal’ had been proved by the revelations made by Punjab Congress leaders.
