Poll Strategist to Work Out Grand Alliance Against DMK in TN

Patna, February 12: Poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s visit to Tamil Nadu has stirred the poll pot in the state. Political grapevine is buzzing on plan to bring the Opposition AIADMK and film star Vijay’s TVK on a common platform.
The DMK has ridiculed Kishor’s meeting with Vijay. The film star had launched his party Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) last year. TVK reportedly set up 120 party districts as part of mega plan for the Assembly elections next year.
Kishor’s visit to Tamil Nadu has caught political observers by surprise. He claims to have dissociated with I-PAC. But reports said that Kishor met with members of I-PAC during Tamil Nadu visit.
Sources said that Kishor may work out a plan to bring together TVK and AIADMK. It is also possible that I-PAC may work for TVK for the Assembly elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has shown distance from Kishor’s visit to Tamil Nadu. K. Annamalai, the state BJP chief of the BJP, said that Kishor should have been meeting the people in place of Vijay.
The film star claims to have quit his acting career to take a plunge into politics. Vijay while launching his party had stated that he would work against corruption. He has been seen attacking the ruling DMK in the state.
Kishor has been travelling a lot after forming his Jan Suraj party in Bihar and is trying to emerge as a factor in Bihar politics. He had also secured 10 per cent vote share in the by-elections of four assembly constituencies recently.
He reached Tirumala Temple with his wife and offered prayers. He took blessings at Tirupati.
Political circle is abuzz with speculations of Kishor taking up the responsibility of election management in Tamil Nadu. “He may remotely handle the affairs of the I-Pac in Tamil Nadu,” said sources in I-PAC.
It is not immediately clear if I-PAC will take up election management works for the TVK or also for the AIADMK. Vijay claims to be caste and religion neutral in his politics. Yet, his party leaders have been reaching out to church functionaries in recent weeks.
The BJP is also bracing up for the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Annamalai hopes to build on the gains made in higher vote share in the Lok Sabha elections. But an alliance between the AIADMK and Vijay’s TVK may squeeze space for the BJP in the state politics, stated political analysts from Chennai.
