Pfizer to settle over 10k lawsuits in US against Zantac: Report

New Delhi, May 9: Pharma giant Pfizer has agreed to settle over 10,000 lawsuits filed by the people against Zantac in the US courts, reported Bloomberg. Reports said that Pfizer has not yet officially conformed the settlement of the lawsuits.
The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) in 2020 had cracked whip against Pfizer. The USFDA had claimed cancer causing agent in Zantac, a strength booster drug sold by the pharma giant.

After the USFDA found the cancer-causing NDMA in Zantac and its generic avatars, the US courts were flooded with lawsuits, according to a report in CTV News. The news portal also stated that lawsuits were filed against several other pharma giants.
Ranitidine drug is also linked to Zantac, according to Wikipedia. “Ranitidine previously sold under the brand name Zantac among others, is a medication used to decrease stomach acid production. It was commonly used in treatment of peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome,” stated Wikipedia in its description for Zantac.
Notably, relatives of the victims of the Covid-19 vaccine, Covishield, have also taken the AstraZeneca to court in the UK. The pharma giant submitted in the UK court that the Covid vaccine caused rare side effects, which led to clotting of blood.

Serum Institute of Pune was the manufacturer of Covishield in India. The Covishield vaccines were administered to most of the people in India and developing countries.
Incidentally, AstraZeneca has withdrawn the Covishield vaccine. Media reports stated that Serum too have claimed to have stopped productions of the Covishield vaccines while stating that all disclosures were mentioned in the vaccine packages.
However, the vaccines were administered to the people in manner as if they had no choices as institutions, transports, schools, workplaces, and others had made the vaccine certificates necessary pre-condition for entries in their premises.
