Congress Fancies Partaking ‘Jai Bhim’ Vote Base with Ambedkar Attacks on BJP

By Manish Anand

New Delhi, December 20: The Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said that the police FIR against leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is just an addition to the statistics. Gandhi had already been facing 25 police FIRs.

Both the Houses of parliament were adjourned sine die on Friday. The Winter session of parliament ended on sour note. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs protested in parliament premises, alleging disrespect to B. R. Ambedkar by the Congress.

Two BJP MPs are recovering from injuries received in scuffle with their Congress colleagues. They have become subjects for meme fest on the social media platforms.

Social media enthusiasts are taking heavier bandages even hours after getting treatments at the Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital in New Delhi. The same hospital had treated over a dozen MPs when they had fainted after pepper spray attacks in the Lok Sabha in 2013 during the introduction of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill.

BJP & Congress Walk into Police Station to Settle Political Discords

The Congress set ‘Jai Bhim’ backdrop to a joint press conference by Gandhi and the party chief Mallikarjuna Kharge. The Congress handle on X released Gandhi’s solo photograph with ‘Jai Bhim’ in the backdrop.

The BJP had been visibly riled up after the Congress set ultimatum on sacking Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah for allegedly mocking at chanting of Ambedkar’s name by the Congress. The BJP headquarters hosted a steady footfall of Union Ministers who launched attacks on the Congress for “disrespecting parliament”.

The 24, Akbar Road office of the Congress has also been buzzing with the main Opposition party showing anger in belly to attack the BJP. With Kharge as the face of the party, the Congress apparently senses that time has come to own up ‘Jai Bhim’ slogan.

The principal claimant to the ‘Jai Bhim’ slogan has for decades been the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Lately, the BSP has slipped far off even from the margins of the politics in Uttar Pradesh.

Amit Shah Faces Congress Heat over Ambedkar Remarks

Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan stunned the BSP in the Lok Sabha elections this year by winning the Nagina parliamentary seat. His outfit Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) is attracting youth followers.

Ravan is also nibbling away the ‘Jai Bhim’ vote base in the western parts of Uttar Pradesh. He had ventured into the Rajasthan politics in last year’s elections.

The Congress hopes to partner Ravan for stakes in ‘Jai Bhim’ vote base in the Hindi heartland. The BJP will be wary of the Congress rediscovering touch with Dalit politics. It was the Dalit vote base per political observers that made all the difference in the outcome of the Haryana Assembly elections.
