Pakistan’s Drone Attacks Aimed at Intelligence Gathering: India

By TRH News Desk

NEW DELHI, May 9, 2025 – India on Friday said that Pakistan is using civilian aircrafts as human shields. India also stated that Pakistan launched drone attacks last night from Leh in Ladakh to Sir Creek near Gujarat to gather intelligence.

“Pakistan continues to operate civilian aircrafts. Pakistan is using the civil aviation as human shields,” said Col Sofia Qureshi. She was briefing the media on development on India-Pakistan tensions.

She said that India has closed the airport operations in areas closer to the international border. “But Pakistan continues to operate the civilian aircrafts,” added Qureshi. She showed a chart showing the movement of the civilian aircrafts in Pakistan.

She also stated that Pakistan launched 300-400 drone attacks last night to target areas from Leh to Sir Creek. “The purpose of the last night’s drone attacks was to gather intelligence on India’s military installations,” she added.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that “Pakistan’s denial of drone attacks on India is another proof of duplicity”. He said that Pakistan indulges in such blatant lies often.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said that the wreckages of Pakistani drones have been sent for forensic examinations. “Drones sent by Pakistan are of Türkiye origins,” added Qureshi.

Türkiye and China are known to be key military suppliers for Pakistan. Türkiye is known to be a major drone manufacturer and exporter.

Misri hit out at Pakistan for targeting Christian missionary schools in Poonch areas of Jammu and Kashmir in which two children were killed while their parents were also injured.

Misri trashed the charges of Pakistan that “India is attacking own cities”, saying that “this speaks of deranged mindset that Islamabad is known for while also attacking own people”.
Misri also stated that the focus of the conversation between External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar with US Secretary of the State Marco Rubio was the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Misri also stated that Jaish-e-Mohammed had a role in the killing of WSJ journalist Daniel Pearl. Bahawalpur in Pakistan, the headquarters of the JeM, was hit by India with Operation Sindoor which struck nine terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

India stressed that the Pakistani drone attacks had been effectively neutralized. India-Pakistan tensions continue to escalate. India has said that Operation Sindoor, which has been pressed into action is a punitive response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians had been killed by terrorists by singling them out for their religion.
