Pakistan Military Accuses India of Drone Attacks in Karachi, Lahore, and Other Cities: DG ISPR

By TRH News Desk

NEW DELHI, May 8, 2025 – Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, accused India of launching drone attacks in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalpur, and Gujranwala. The drone attacks came amid a major attack on Pakistani army in Balochistan.

The Pakistani Army soldiers have been “injured” in a drone attack in Lahore, said local media. Pakistani media reported while quoting DG ISPR that armed forces downed all 12 Harop drones.

According to ARY News, the DG ISPR stated during a press briefing, “India launched drone attacks in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalpur, and Karachi. All drones sent by India were shot down by Pakistan’s forces.”

The outlet reported that four Pakistan Army soldiers were injured in a drone strike near Lahore. ARY News stated in its report that “Pakistan’s air defence systems ensured no further damage”.

Dawn News quoted the DG ISPR saying, “Pakistan’s armed forces downed all 12 Harop drones, but the attack injured four soldiers in Lahore and resulted in one civilian death in Mianwali.”

Dawn also noted that the attacks disrupted civilian life, with flight operations temporarily suspended at Karachi, Lahore, and Sialkot airports.

Geo TV reported on the DG ISPR’s assurance that Pakistan’s Air Force remained on high alert, preventing any drones from causing extensive damage. “Our forces are giving a befitting reply to India’s aggression,” he said, as quoted by the channel.

The drone attacks have sparked outrage across Pakistan. Raja Muneeb, a geopolitical commentator, posted a video of purported drone attack in Lahore on X, saying: “An Indian drone attack targeted the 4 Air Defence Compound near Walton in Lahore.”

The drone attacks were reported amid the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claiming responsibility for a devastating attack on a Pakistani Army convoy in Balochistan’s Noshki district today, alleging it killed 14 soldiers, including Special Operations Commander Tariq Imran and Subedar Umar Faroo. The separatist group released a video showing a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) obliterating a military vehicle, escalating tensions in the restive province.

According to a BLA statement, the attack targeted a convoy on the RCD Highway near Rakshan Mill, destroying one vehicle and neutralizing all personnel onboard. The group’s spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, described the operation as part of its fight against Pakistan’s “occupation” of Balochistan, warning of intensified attacks.
