‘Single Mothers Worried About Sons Playing Video Games in Basements’

New Delhi, November 10: A New York University Professor has credited ‘aspirational masculinity’ for the emphatic victory of Donald Trump in the US Presidential Elections. Trump trounced his Democratic rival, the incumbent vice president, Kamala Harris on November 5 elections.

Scott Galloway, a professor of marketing in the NYU, credited ‘aspirational masculinity’ for the victory of Trump. He pinned down the state of economy as the pivot of the poll victory of the Republican and the former president.

“The average age of first-time home buyers is now 54 against 34 sometime ago. The current generation has far lesser economic opportunities than their parents,” Galloway told CNN in an interview.

The NYU Professor described ‘aspirational masculinity’ as “feeling good about being a man and aspiring for better economic opportunities”. “The single mother worried more about their sons playing video games in basements. They wanted their kids to go out of homes and find jobs,” Galloway explained reasons why Harris polled lesser votes than the incumbent President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections in certain demographics.

The NYU professor argued that the 45-64 age group decisively voted in favour of trump for economic issues. “This age group consisting of the parents are aware that their sons have much lesser economic opportunities than what they had in their youth. This age group was more concerned about their kids than what was happening in Ukraine,” added Galloway in the CNN interview.

Trump focused on inflation, cost of living, and immigration in his campaigns. Harris and Democrat campaigners urged upon the voters to choose “values”.

Former US President Barack Obama campaigned intensely for Harris, urging upon the voters to protect the “democratic values”. The poll campaign of Harris per poll observers was overly negative against Trump with him being the subject of personal targeting.

“The youth and the 45-64 age group swung the elections for Trump. The aspirational masculinity gained strength from crypto and the likes of Elon Musk and other male billionaires alongside Trump during the campaign,” added Galloway.

The NYU professor argued that demography that swung the elections for Trump was more worried about what was happening in the US than in the far-off countries. “The lack of economic opportunities was far more important than the call for trans-rights and protecting democracies in other continents,” added Galloway. The NYU professor is a popular podcaster in the US.
