PM counters claims after Bihar win, says his government operates with urgency to ease poverty, create jobs and serve the middle class — not for constant campaigning.

New Delhi, November 18, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the Ram Nath Goenka Lecture on Monday to push back against criticism that the BJP remains in “24×7 election mode,” arguing instead that his government operates in “24×7 emotion mode” driven by urgency for public welfare.
Referring to commentary after the BJP’s victory in the Bihar elections, Modi said some media sections and “Modi critics as well as admirers” have revived the claim that the party is perpetually preparing for polls. He dismissed the suggestion, saying governance — not campaigning — occupies his government around the clock.
“You don’t need to be in election mode to win elections,” Modi said. “You need to be in emotion mode — a constant restlessness that not even a minute should be wasted. Every moment must go toward reducing the hardships of the poor, creating jobs, ensuring healthcare access, and fulfilling the aspirations of the middle class.”
He added that when a government works with such intent, results are visible “on the day of the election itself,” citing the BJP’s performance in Bihar as an example.
Modi stressed that this emotional commitment, rather than political strategizing, is what keeps his administration “continuously engaged” in delivering outcomes for citizens.
