New Delhi, January 12: Two google searches revealed curious answers on the January 22 consecration of the Ram Idol in the under construction of the temple in Ayodhya. First was to check on the wild thought if Prime Minister Narendra Modi will himself be not consecrating the idol.
The people are widely believing that the Ram Temple will be inaugurated on January 22. Thus, the second question was posed to Google on the status of the Ram Temple construction.
The search engine, on the first query, said that a priest from Varanasi, Lakshmi Kant Dixit, will be doing the honour. Dixit is not widely heard in the country for his achievements and followings in the matters of religion. The only obvious possible link is that he hails from the parliamentary constituency of the prime minister.
On the the second query, the search engine said that the first and the second floors will be completed by December this year, in another 11 months. The temple has many more floors, and the complex is stated to be huge. The bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai was given the first dateline of 2022 for completion, and now the first trial run is said to have been stated for end of 2026. Thus, the habit of missing deadline in the country is known already to be monstrous.
But flights are being inaugurated for Ayodhya from various parts of the country. A company which is part of the work of setting up a tent city in Ayodhya saw its share price rising to the wild level in a matter of a few months.
Indeed, Ram Lalla has been blessing the followers from under the roof of a tent for years at the site of the Ramjanmabhoomi in Ayodhya. The people have regularly been visiting the place. The Ramjanmabhoomi movement of the patriarch of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) brought tectonic shifts in the Indian politics.
But the January 22 consecration ceremony will evidently be seen as more of a political event even by a novice in politics. But certainly not by the mainstream media, which partakes in the BJP’s narrative gleefully that those who will be declining the January 22 invitation honouring are against ‘Sanatan Dharma’. This business of giving labels to others is now of an epic proportion.
The Indian Express has carried a lead Editorial lambasting the Congress for declining the invitations extended to party leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjuna Kharge, and Adhir Ranjan Chaudhury. The daily has dug out history of the “indecisiveness of the Congress” to write the language of Hindutva. But this Noida-based daily has not given space to the ‘gang’ of Shankaracharyas who are livid at the consecration ceremony being held in an incomplete temple.
But this should not be surprise, for the mainstream media is flourishing by partaking the gains from being amplifiers of the ruling party. It may even be surprising that the foreign affairs self-goal in matters of relations with Maldives was not sighted as the media went searching for the tourism goldmine in Lakshadweep. Again, no questions were asked for almost negligent progress on island development plan of the Niti Aayog for more than eight years.
