New Delhi, September 27: Ahead of bombing of the Hezbollah headquarters in Beirut in Lebanon, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu served stern warning to Iran. Netanyahu warned that “there is no place in Iran that the long arm of Israel cannot reach”.
Israeli airstrikes in the suburbs of South Lebanon flattened high-rise buildings. There is no confirmation yet of the Hezbollah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah.

Hours ahead of the special airstrikes against the Hezbollah HQ, Netanyahu served stern message to Iran and other countries in the Middle East. “There is no place in Iran and the Middle East that the long arm of Israel cannot reach,” said Netanyahu in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
Reports said that Israeli Cabinet on third attempt approved the plan to attack the Hezbollah leadership. Two earlier proposals were rejected by the Israeli Cabinet, said leading Tel Aviv-based journalists.

The US officially said that it was not aware of the plan of Israel to bomb the Hezbollah HQ. But Israeli radio broadcaster said on Friday that the US was notified shortly before the airstrikes.
Netanyahu’s speech at the UNGA gave indications that he was warning the Middle East against escalation of tension in the region. “For the first time, this April, Iran from its soil attacked Israel. You attack us, we will attack you,” said Netanyahu.

A number of diplomats walked out of the UNGA after Netanyahu took to the podium. He was also booed by a section of the diplomats at the UNGA.
The Israeli airstrikes against the Hezbollah came a day after the US and France issued a joint statement to urge Tel Aviv for a 21-day ceasefire on the Israel-Lebanon border. But Israel within a few hours rejected the appeal for ceasefire.

The Middle East observers are commenting that Israel may not abide by the US demands and Tel Aviv will go after the Hezbollah in most fierce manner. The prospects of the killing of Nasrallah may escalate the tension in the Middle East.
“There are indications that Nasrallah was in the compound that was attacked. Those who were there have a very small chance of getting out alive,” Israeli journalist Barak Ravid quoted a senior military official telling him.
Iran while being the patron of the Hezbollah may weigh options in the event that its assets are eliminated in Lebanon.
